Great place for hiking and pictures. The bannock served Thursday afternoons at 3 is a must. The Interpretive Centre has many interesting exhibits and lots of books.

“Beautiful drive”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

The mountains in this area are beautiful. The drive starts out with rolling hills, then a large section of mountain peaks and then it becomes rolling hills after the viewpoint.

The highway itself is not well maintained in some areas as there many bumps and loose gravel sections.

The trailheads are not as well signed as we've seen in other provinces, so you have to keep a closer lookout for them.

Visitor center was closed when we were there (mid-September) so get all your information outside of the park beforehand.

It is about 1 hr 15 mins drive from Dawson to the lookout point in the park.

“Visit to Yukon”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

Wonderful, isolated, beautiful, and so tantalizingly close to the Arctic Circle. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for wild horses along the way. Stop at the Interpretation Centre......and make sure your tires are in good shape, you have a workable phone for communication and you have ample gas

“Spectacular location”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

We hiked the Grizzly Lake trail through to Divide Lake and Talus Lake at the end of July on a 9 day backpack. Grizzly Lake was pretty "busy" (as busy as a camp site with only 10 sites can get - but the cook shelter is very small), but we had the sites at Divide and Talus to ourselves for 4 nights. Almost 100% perfect weather, not many bugs, caribou and dall sheep sightings, lots of marmots, pika and ground squirrels, fortunately no grizzly, although others reported seeing a sow with cubs at a distance. The park is unbelievably beautiful and park wardens (all 3 of them for a park that size is serious understaffing!) very knowledgeable and helpful. One park official at the Info Centre loaned us her own map, as there actually are NO park maps available (only 100 printed this year; we had purchased a map of part of the park in Whitehorse). Definitely a trip for experienced and fit hikers - hiking poles a must.
