I stayed here with my husband and 2 young children for 2 nights, front desk was very helpful and quick at check-in. They set up a crib in our family suite with sheets prior to arrival (just like I had asked) and helped carry our bags. I thought that was very nice! The free breakfast selection was good, they were the only hotel in town that offered the service. Traveling with my kids, that was a great plus! Also, they were $30 cheaper per night than Travel Lodge and Best Western. The Smitty's restaurant next door had great food and really friendly staff. We dined for dinner our first night and our server took the time to answer our questions and made us feel really welcomed. Overall, the hotel was family friendly and I like that they are newly renovated. Our experience was very pleasant. Their housekeeping was really great, they cleaned up our room very nicely after the mess my son made!

This is the Super 8 if anyone is looking for it. The checkin was quick. I had prebooked and when I came in the clerk had me checked in with no delay. The hotel lobby is small but clean. The room was a one bedroom, very basic and no couch, just a desk, bar size refrigerator and cupboard but I slept fine and didn't hear noises. There was free wireless connection in the rooms so was able to browse no problem. The complimentary breakfast was continental but if one has time I would suggest going next door to the restaurant, Smitty's, for a more filling meal.
I spent my time wandering around downtown checking out the totems. It was also the city's summer festival so caught some of the free entertainment at the various stages downtown. Also got to one of the wineries in the area, Averill Creek, and after a drive around twisting and winding country roads and going through a security gate found at the top of a hill a beautiful winery with and even more fantastic view of the islands and the strait east of Vancouver Island. The wines were excellent. There are a number of good restaurants around Duncan and they carry local wines which is great.
My one major complaint with the hotel is the AC unit. My window was on the south west corner of the hotel so I had to keep the drapes drawn to block the sun in the evenings but because the drapes were of a heavy material and they hung to the floor they blocked the airflow of the AC unit below the window. It was hard to get the room to a comfortable coolness at night.
