“great for fishing nice beach but not for the prissy”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

We stayed here back in september when the pinks where running and was perfect for a bunch of the guys.It is right beside the boat launch and has a nice beach. It is a bit on the older rustic side but was very clean had good hot water and fridge worked great. The staff here is unbeatable and helped us to restaurants, fishing supplies stores, and just great knowledge of surrounding area.It might be a bit to rustic for some as cabins are very old but beds where great and tv worked fine too.I will return here every two years to slay those salmon and perhaps in between just a because the area is breathtaking beautiful. The town is so small no need for taxis as everything is walking distance. Thanks for the great holiday!

The woman who takes care of this Motel was very unfriendly right from the beginning. When we had a look at our room it wasn't cleaned at all. On the rim of the toilet there were rest from the guests who had used the toilet before we arrived. There was human excreta on and under the rim of the toilet as well as on the toilet seat. That was very disgusting. The woman from the motel even tried to refuse the cleaning because it was too late regarding to her opinion. While she was cleaning the toilet seat she said "I wonder if it's paint". The bathroom sink hasn't been cleaned as well. We have never been to such an unclean and run down place before and we do travel a lot.

This is the perfect place if you are looking for a more laid back feel, as the owners are so nice and give you privacy. The cabins are, as some have said, dated and a little shabby, but just leave the door and windows open for an hour and they freshen right up. Once you get cozy, you quickly realize that this is possibly the nicest property at Harrison, the water a stone's throw away. We liked how it was tucked at the corner of the town, not as busy as the hotels. We've stayed at the resort many times, but this affords you something different. Come and go as you please, take midnight strolls on the beach, have a great ice cream in Jenny's parlor. Again, this is rustic. It's a cabin and doesn't pretend to be a resort hotel. But if you're a camper, this is luxury. If you want perfection, it doesn't exist at Harrison, even in the resort. This is an old town, with plenty of charm and these cabins remind one of an older era, a simpler time.

Room Tip: One cabin is near the pool and gets a fair amount of foot traffic in front.

I agree with most of the bad reviews here. Outdated and poorly maintained. Leaking sinks. Doors don't lock. Too expensive for the dump your staying in. $330 for 2 nights plus tax. The staff asked us not to swim any more because the pool will be cloudy ( try explaining to children that half an hour is to much - very disappointing). Shop owners in general are rude in the town. The cottages are cute on the outside but furniture is near breaking. The #9 cabin is on the beach with views of the lake with a nice little patio.

This was a last resort. We asked management if we could view the room and the response was that we could only look from the doorway! We wished later we had left and driven to a different location. Windows could not be latched at night. Cracked glass. Main door lock inadequate. Shower: old, damaged, rusty shower rail, rusty soap holder, paint peeling. Towels clean but frayed. (poor quality for money paid). Chipped cups and damaged bowls. Kitchen shelving stained. Sink sealed with mastic! No plugs, generally unclean poorly maintained kitchen. Soap inferior, toilet paper: CHEAPEST quality we've ever come across in 35 years of world travel. Really small toilet/basin/shower space.
Separate bedroom good, bed linen and floors clean. At $135.00 CAD this is the worst value for money we have ever had.

Room Tip: Choose somewhere else to stay.

After a 10 hour drive, we decided to stay the night in Harrison Hot Springs. We'd never been there before and we thought it would be a nice change to get away from the highway and soak at the hot springs. That was mistake no. 1: the hot springs are only available for guests who stay at the resort they're located at. That resort was booked for the night, so we had to find another place to stay. Upon checking some reviews on Tripadvisor and driving by the Bungalow Motel, we decided to give it a try. That was mistake no. 2. I've stayed at a lot of places over the years and never gave something a 1 point rating, this is the very first time. Mistake no. 3: we never asked to see the room before we booked it. Lesson learned, I guess.

I'm gonna make it short, here's the good:
- hot water
- a newer bar size fridge
- a working tv

the bad:
- dirty floors
- outdated and broken furniture
- no coffeemaker
- no glasses or cups or anything
- no plug for the sink (I wear contacts and hate rinsing them with the chance of them slipping into the drain)
- no alarm clock
- no shampoo, just small bars of soap
- the shower stall was disgusting

We stayed at budget motels in countries that are poorer than Canada, but even those hotels were better (and way cheaper!) than this one. It certainly has a lot of potential if they spend some money on renovating and updating the rooms, but for now: look elsewhere, Bungalow Motel is not worth your money.

From the road this place looks cute, but from the inside, not so much, it is like turning back to the 70's ugly wall paneling, an old pull out couch that was covered with an old blanket, did not dare to lift up this blanked to see what's underneath it all.and the same for the bed .the room smelled like stale cigarette smoke.(should have figured it out sooner when the owner was in the yard with a cigarette dangling from her lips) the room had no drinking glasses,no nothing, the bathroom was also nasty , we did not sit on the toilet instead we hovered above it. The shower-stall was and rusty metal box we just put the towel on the floor of the stall because we did not bring any shower slippers.Been to some campground showers and they were a lot cleaner.
When you see this place , just keep on driving on, we should have checked the room out before we paid for it , but most trip advisor reviews were not bad. Big mistake.
