“RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE DO NOT BOOK”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Visited a friend who stayed here - how do they stay in business. Filthy, no screens, plugged shower. Despite ad WiFi doesn't work. Despite photos this place is a dive. How sad given the beauty of the area.
Is there no health inspection or tourism inspection in this area. Good grief!

I can't figure out if the people who give this place good reviews have confused it with some other property or were in a drug induced coma during their stay. I have never had a worse experience than staying here. I travel for 6-8 months of the year, spending a lot of time in motels and often working in the field, living out of a tent and of everything I've experienced, this place was absolutely appalling.

When I first arrived, I was immediately concerned with the level of cleanliness. The fridge was full of dead bugs and old food and had a thick layer of grime on top, the stove was caked with old layers of what I hope was food and the "shower" was cringeworthy. I made the mistake of opening some cupboards and quickly learned to keep doors shut that didn't absolutely have to be opened. Underneath the sink was absolutely filthy with a huge rat trap in plain view. The bed was propped up on a combination of stacked 2x6s and bricks. The shower was not in fact a shower but a carved out hole in the wall with linoleum glued over the sides and no light. One side was caving in and had a huge hole. I discovered very quickly the shower didn't actually drain but in fact bubbled up old water and created a swamp up to my ankles. When I called management for help, I was yelled at for having a shower at 10:30 at night and was later assure nothing was wrong and it drained fine.

Unfortunately this location was booked through my work for an extended period and despite the horrid conditions, the owner would not allow us to cancel the two week booking and I was forced to stay there, showering on a stool to avoid the back coming out of the drain. There are no screens on the windows so you have to decide between opening the place up to swarms of mosquitoes, or sweltering in heat as there's no A/C.

Yes, this place is close to the lake. That's it. To calll this place rustic is a joke - it should be condemned. Bring a tent. At least it will be clean and you'll get what you pay for.

We stayed here 2 nights in May, I think the place had just opened for the season. There was some dust and a distinct musty smell. And I've had watering cans with more water pressure than the shower! But the staff was very friendly and the hotel is at the quiet end of the lakeshore, right on the lake for dog to go swimming.

My family still laughs at our 'camp out' experience in these old log cabins. Situated on the opposite end of Main Street from the better-known Harrison Hot Springs resort, the cabins offer a radically different accommodation experience but exactly the same access to town and lake and the public hot pools. Through the years, we have stayed at the Bungalows from time to time specifically because we can bring our beloved dogs with us! (Without the $150 charge at the resort hotel).

However, there is a trade off. Staying in the Bungalows feels rather like you are homesteading. The cabins are old, the staff are friendly.

We rented two cabins for 3 nights. Cabin 1 was rustic but a good view of the lake. The other cabin was a bit of a nightmare; a plate of discarded cigarette butts shoved under the bed, unwashed pots (complete with grease) in the cupboard and a pervade musty smell.

Some of our party could handle it, some could not and went home early. No luck getting a reimbursement of our unused nights though... So I post this review for a 'buyer beware'. The location isn't bad, but rustic is the polite word for these digs.... But it is hard to find a place that allows a family with dogs for a decent price.

Room Tip: Cabin 1 was acceptable. But not the smaller one behind it

We stayed here back in september when the pinks where running and was perfect for a bunch of the guys.It is right beside the boat launch and has a nice beach. It is a bit on the older rustic side but was very clean had good hot water and fridge worked great. The staff here is unbeatable and helped us to restaurants, fishing supplies stores, and just great knowledge of surrounding area.It might be a bit to rustic for some as cabins are very old but beds where great and tv worked fine too.I will return here every two years to slay those salmon and perhaps in between just a because the area is breathtaking beautiful. The town is so small no need for taxis as everything is walking distance. Thanks for the great holiday!

The woman who takes care of this Motel was very unfriendly right from the beginning. When we had a look at our room it wasn't cleaned at all. On the rim of the toilet there were rest from the guests who had used the toilet before we arrived. There was human excreta on and under the rim of the toilet as well as on the toilet seat. That was very disgusting. The woman from the motel even tried to refuse the cleaning because it was too late regarding to her opinion. While she was cleaning the toilet seat she said "I wonder if it's paint". The bathroom sink hasn't been cleaned as well. We have never been to such an unclean and run down place before and we do travel a lot.

This is the perfect place if you are looking for a more laid back feel, as the owners are so nice and give you privacy. The cabins are, as some have said, dated and a little shabby, but just leave the door and windows open for an hour and they freshen right up. Once you get cozy, you quickly realize that this is possibly the nicest property at Harrison, the water a stone's throw away. We liked how it was tucked at the corner of the town, not as busy as the hotels. We've stayed at the resort many times, but this affords you something different. Come and go as you please, take midnight strolls on the beach, have a great ice cream in Jenny's parlor. Again, this is rustic. It's a cabin and doesn't pretend to be a resort hotel. But if you're a camper, this is luxury. If you want perfection, it doesn't exist at Harrison, even in the resort. This is an old town, with plenty of charm and these cabins remind one of an older era, a simpler time.

Room Tip: One cabin is near the pool and gets a fair amount of foot traffic in front.
