“OK for an overnight stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2009

We stopped here as we were on a 2 day Rocky Mountaineer train journey from Banff to Vancouver and they put you up in hotels in Kamloops for the middle night. There were a number of us from the train staying at this hotel. It is basically a motel.
Our room was a good size with 2 good beds. The bathroom was small with shower over the bath and a toilet but the wash hand basin was in the bedroom. Everything was very clean and it worked ie the iron, hair drier TV and fridge.
The hotel does not have a restaurant but there is an eaterie next door - about a 3 minute walk. This was AWFUL. It was so dark inside you could hardly read the menu and the food was grim. We were not paying as our evening meal was included in our train fare package but if we had been paying we would not have been at all happy. Fortunately we did not need to have breakfast there as this was provided on the train. We were somewhat relieved to hear that fellow passengers who had stayed elsewhere in Kamloops had a similar experience - the accommodation was fine but the eating arrangements were poor.

I usually stick to chains motels, but we went with the tripadvisor reviews. Rooms were clean and comfortable if not fancy. Bathroom a little dated but clean. Had a fridge and wireless internet. We sat out back on the nice patio furniture and enjoyed the views and the waterskiers as my kids played on the laptop using the motel wireless connection. The only negative was the 1960's pools. Breakfast was decent. We had a good nights sleep in comfortable beds. I would skip the restaurant next door.

Our room was right on the patio with a spectacular view of the river and a small pool and hot tub two doors down. (We were in #102. #101 is, I think, the only other room that opens onto the patio.) We were travelling with our kids and had a great time. My daughter headed straight for the pool and stayed there a lot. We all spent a lot of time enjoying the patio and even sat out under the stars after sunset.

The room itself was small and a bit awkward, but generally clean. We had requested a kitchenette so we could put together our own simple dinner, but the stove was small, with 2 elements, and the table had only 2 chairs; not suitable for our family of 4.

Overall, the friendly, helpful staff and great location made for a wonderful stay and we would likely stay again.

To avoid driving back to the lower mainland at night , I stayed in this hotel. The non smoking room I requested was clean and did have a view of the river from the other side of the room. Weird moment was that in room 311 the tv was not in plain view from the bed. Interesting layout for a room. The pop machine ate my toonie but the attendant corrected things. She also reset my magnetic keys as I could not get into my room, after hauling my suitcase back to reception.

If you are arriving from the #5 Jasper or heading out in the morning in that direction, the location is perfect .

Breakfast was in included in the morning, bagels, juice, cereal ect. There were fresh eggs made after I sat down, after being asked. My timing was important so I hit the Starbucks on the edge of town.

The hotel was clean & comfortable. Good location, right on the river and close to the highway. The restaurant next door worked out great for the whole family. It’s a good idea to make reservations, if you want to sit out on the patio.

What an experience! A small dusty room with bed bugs and dust mites. Carpet and furniture was dusty. It seemed like they had never vacumed the carpet. Linens were not clean either. It was a horrible experience!!!

I stayed in Riverland Inn & Suites in July 2008 with my fiance.

We stayed in the Queen suite with Kitchenette.

We were very impressed with this hotel's views of the river, the balconey was amazing, the pool/hot tub were also very nice. We also enjoyed the fact that for our suite at least, we could back the car right by our door making loading/unloading very easy!

The room was clean and had all that we needed.

I also loved how easy access was to get to the hotel, you don;t need to drive all around the city getting lost, simply pull off the highway and it is right there!
