As a part of the Rocky Mountaineer trip from Vancouver to Banff, after first day's train journey, we were put up in this hotel for the night and we found the hotel to be quite good with very spacious rooms and all amenities including free wi fi for guests. Furniture in the rooms were a bit old but comfortable. An overall pleasant experience.

Location downtown worked well for us. Close to a lot of good eating places. Although not fancy it was very clean and kept up. Got a good price for a "family room" with 2 queen and 1 king. It is getting tougher to find hotels with family rooms that work for 5 people so this was a good find. Staff is very friendly - never missed an opportunity to great us as we passed by.

Room Tip: You may want to face away from the Railway station. The trains seem to come by hourly.

We attended a convention and stayed at the Thompson. All staff were extremely friendly & helpful, the room was quite large and we enjoyed the window that opened for fresh air in the evening. Aircon worked perfectly not too hot or cold. They have a breakfast room and our breakfast was included in the package - not sure if this applies to all staying at the Hotel though. There were hot choices such as waffles and breakfast burritos and mini cheese omelettes as well as the usual cereals, breads, muffins, fruit, yogourt, etc. Location of the Hotel is perfect as it is a few blocks from the big Event
Centre/Sportplex, and the River Park with beach & swimming and live music every night in the summer - we walked there - and it is walking distance to good restaurants as well as fast food choices right downtown. You can leave your car parked for the duration of the stay.
Our suggestion for a yummy dinner or snackies in the pub is The Noble Pig just next door almost, which has their own microcraft brewery and lots of tempting delicious food incorporating their beers. They also have a gluten free menu and gluten free beer. You have a choice of restaurant if with minors or the pub section with full menu.

One adult plus two children (ages 8, 13). We were looking for a one-night stay with a pool. Boy did we get it! FABULOUS! Clean, organized, knowledgeable, professional, tidy, smart, thoughtful. The lobby has easy access to driveway for loading and unloading of luggage. Carts available right at the door for carrying said luggage. 2 staff, at all times at the counter, whom are very friendly, professional. Coffee, tea and cold lemon water (lemonaid?) available for free, comfy leather couches and chairs, and a print out (in a frame at the desk) detailing expected weather for the week--- all in the lobby! Then sign in simple and informational, directions to our hotel room clear and concise, keys worked in the door! Room spotlessly clean, aired, cooled (temp was 38C!) Fridge with small freezer, ice bucket (ice machine on same floor), 2 coffee pods and creamers, coffee mugs, wine glasses. Tonnes of various sized towels in good locations in the spotless washroom. Great water pressure, lighting, roomy washroom. there was a nice, personal sticky note on the washroom mirror from the cleaning crew! Beds were very comfy, (lots of) pillows were perfect! Room-darkening curtains clean, wrinkle-free. Beautifully decorated room, large flat screen tv, lots of plug ins for electronic devices (we each had two electronics-- total 6-- to plug in and no issues finding plugs) Hallways were wide, clean, quiet, very well maintained. The cleaning staff were fabulous! Professionally attired, cheerful, helpful. Oh! And the best part.... laundering is done IN HOUSE! I saw the room with the laundering machines and two women happily, yes happily, washing laundry, folding, etc.. :) VERY NICE to see! And, the entire hotel has been awarded certificates for cleanliness, and for going green! We had biodegradable, refillable supplies where appropriate. Very, very impressed with everything involving this hotel and experience. Also, very easy to find location from main highway, clean parking lot, some spots available undercover. We didn't hear any hallway noise even with a large convention filling the hotel! The games room is open 24 hrs and the pool is clean, cool and comfortable for both swimmers and on-lookers alike. The Continental Breakfast was waaaay better than expected! Fresh waffles and fruit, ice-cold milk, 3 kinds of juices, different types of breads for toasting, bagels, Danishes, omelets, breakfast wraps, coffee, tea, water, and all the sides you can think of. Again, clean, helpful friendly staff here too! The only bad things I can think of about our stay here, is: 1) the fact that IMPARK owns the parking around the hotel, and therefor guests must pay $5 for parking. 2) The hot tub water was an odd yellow color, and smelling strongly of chlorine. But that is it. 3) The view from the room window was of the roof of the next building.. but, in fairness, our visit was only for one night, we did not request a view, and we didn't care what the view was. Fabulous place to stay, we were pampered and enjoyed everything offered!

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view if it is a requirement. some rooms overlook alley-ways and other building roofs.
