Went to Lac Le Jeune Resort to rent kayaks for a few hours as it seemed to be one of the only places around Kamloops for Kayaking. The resort itself looks kind of worn and dated, but the man at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

Fantastic kayaking experience - you just sign the waiver at the front desk and they let you get on with it, rather than some rental places where you are drilled on equipment, safety, how to maneuver the kayak, etc. so great for people who have kayaked before. You just go down to the water and help yourself to life jackets and paddles and then can just launch yourself off wherever you can.

They charge by half day (1-3 hrs) or full day (3 hrs+). We went early, and were literally the only ones out on the lake. It's a fairly big lake, but we were still able to go around the entire circumference in 3 hours, with plenty of time to explore the little inlets and interesting bits.

The scenery was absolutely beautiful with plenty of wildlife - we watched a bald eagle fly around catching fish, and followed a family of loons around for a while. Great for photography.

Would definitely do it again at my next opportunity - only $30.00 for 3 hours is really very reasonable. They don't seem to have many kayaks, but it doesn't seem like many people are there to rent them anyway. Great find.

A 1970's build which looked as if it hadn't been touched since it was built! The whole resort is shabby. Our cabin had blue painted door which was all peeling and the wooden doorframe was rotten, (not a good start). The inside smelt musty & stale, the windows were dirty, broken, and you could see daylight between the glass and the rotten wooden frames. The appliances had been recently updated & TV's added, but the whole cabin was disgusting. The carpet was patched, the bathroom needed refurbishing, the sink in the kitchenette area had a bucket under it to catch the leaking waste, the bed cover was stained, (fortunately the sheets appeared clean), tea & coffee making facilities were available but there was no tea or coffee provided & there was no store to purchase any, and there were holes in the internal doors. The only place in the area to eat was the resort restaurant, which only offered a fixed price menu, which was more than we were paying at our other stops, (self-serve starter & dessert, with a choice of about 3 or 4 main courses). The staff were friendly & helpful, the food was satisfactory, but overall the whole place left us feeling dirty & we just couldn't wait to leave, fortunately we only had one night in this resort. There were no other facilities at this resort, it's only saving grace was stunning views over the lakes which was not enough to make for its other lacking features. We have looked on the website for this resort since we stayed there, & we must say that the photos are very cleverly taken, we couldn't believe it was the same place!

We had asked our agent for at least 3* accommodation, but we would rate this resort at hostel level, certainly not anything above 1*

No question that location location location is what keep this "lodge" going. the lake is a gorgeous one. No arguement there, but unless these buildings get some sorely-needed maintenance and subsequent room updates/soundproofong, the only patrons will be the bus tours dumped out twice weekly, or so. It's quite sad. THere are cabins and a chalet available but those are possibly in worse shape. the boat docks and other such things intended for guest use are desperately in a bad state. some former bldgs are boarded up. The chef rocks. Woe that he should ever leave them. THe quaint-ness and charm are leaking out of this place as it falls apart. THe toy wildlife will be the only characters still standing.

Room Tip: if there's no bus or groups, room 316

The location of this hotel is off the beaten track a world away from busy Kamloops. The sort trip out to the hotel is very much woorth it as it places you in the tranquility of a bird reserve and by a senic lake. The hotel ( main building) is very characterful with toy wildlife dotted about the entrance. just as you enter you will not several stuffed toys bears etc. playing cards which is a lovely touch I asked the owner jokingly if he ever sits down and plays with them he responded "No they cheat" which sums up the humour and atmosphere of this hotel. The room was big and the view over thye lake spectacular as you could pull back the curtains and be greeted by numerous birds just out side on large tree stumps which the hotel puts peanut butter on every morning. We saw verious tyoes of birfd including a Blue Jay. We were advised that bears occasionally visit and there are some great pictures in reception of a bear on the decking jsut by reception. The restaurant was fine but limited in choice and a bit expensive but the setting and views across the lake made up for this. If you are visiting the area or just passing through i would highly recommend you stay here.

Room Tip: If you can try to get a room in the main building as you can see both lakes from your room
