We stayed here on our first night of a Rockies round trip - I found the hotel easily enough but it is a little bit East of Kamloops so I guess you need to accept you'll probably 'eat in' and stay in once luggage and bags are unloaded. The room was very fresh clean and comfortable; it didn't have coffee making facilities but coffee was available in the morning and on both occasions the staff helped me take it back to the room. Scenery around the hotel was great and after a fair days drive a few minutes in the outdoor pool and hot tub looking over the river swept away the tiredness. I raised a minor query with the hotel by e mail after we'd left and I was delighted with the speed , professionalism and helpful response. We'd certainly recommend staying there and would happily return.

Room Tip: Probably best to be looking towards the river although there is a golf course and countryside in the other direction.

Thank you for your positive comments about your stay with us. Our restaurant called madisens is open for dinner and we also serve food in our lounge. Rivershore Golf Course is located right beside us and they have a restaurant that is open as well and an easy 2 minute walk. We are also happy to make you coffee any time of the day. Hopefully we always offer helpful responses to our guests. The only reason we exist is for our guests. Without you we are not necessary
Thank you for recommending us!

We enjoyed our 1 night stay here. Although the South Thompson was quite busy with a wedding and all its guests, our stay was very enjoyable. We were given a lovely river view room with balcony (although this is shared with another room - not a problem if you know the people in the other room, but a divider might be a better idea). The rooms are decorated in a country style, but ours was perfectly clean and comfortable. Free wi-fi is available in the room. Coffee facilities are not available in the room, but they do offer complimentary tea & coffee downstairs until 10.00am. My only complaint was that signage is a bit lacking and we were unsure how to find the pool area without asking. Also we never did find changing rooms and ended up using washrooms - not a major problem, however. The staff were all very pleasant. If you are driving here the South Thompson does feel a bit off the beaten track, but you will understand why when you arrive and see how ranchy it is. Would be very happy to stay again.

We just stayed overnight on a roundtrip in BC. The choice was a good one. We had 2 rooms with 2 queen size beds for a family of 4 (2 teenagers). The beds were very comfortable. The design of the rooms all individual, romantic and very very nice. Our rooms were facing the river, nice views. We also used the basic fitness room and the pool area. This is very small, but can be nice on sunny days. The breakfast included was very good, incl. fresh juice, fresh fruits and nice rolls. We also had dinner in the restaurant and absolutely enjoyed it. The staff are very nice, helpful and competent as well.

I enjoyed reading your review, thank you! I am always happy when we our guests enjoy their stay with us. I am pleased you enjoyed your meals. We have a great Executive Chef. Thank you for letting us know. Every room in the Inn is different so you will probably get a different look if you return. Hopefully you do.

This is a nice hotel, situated in a lovely picturesque location overlooking the river. It is actually about 15-20 minutes outside of the main town and quite a way down a narrow road that doesn't initially appear to go anywhere. This is explained and something we knew before we had booked, but you still naturally question the instructions as you carry on down this road! Our room overlooked the river and was clean, well maintained and very pleasant. It don't really agree some reports that state that rooms and hotel is looking tired in areas. I look tired with age, so expect a hotel to do the same! We were a little disappointed with our dinner, but put that down to wrong choice as the menu did look quite varied. The swimming pool was a good temperature and we enjoyed a quiet afternoon on our own at the pool, this made our stay very pleasant due its location and overall quietness.
I am aware that the hotel is keen to be in the top spot for Kamloops hotels, but what lets this hotel down can easily be rectified. This is a non-smoking hotel, as are most nowadays. We were informed this at reception at least twice and maybe 3 times during check-in, despite informing them that we are non-smokers. We still had a charge of $300 put against our card, in addition to the standard 25%, in case we breeched this rule! This really did annoy me and not the type of suspicion or distrust of customers that I would expect, especially of being a non-smoker! This hotel also does not provide cooked breakfasts, only continental, and we were required to provide our requirements before we had even sat down for our evening dinner which we had a table reserved for 8pm! They do provide complimentary coffee at the bar in the morning, which was nice. In the end, we chose to get breakfast on the road in the time of our choosing! Lastly and one that has been raised before, was the lack of attentive service and staff levels appeared thin on the ground. We laid next to the pool for 90 minutes and despite staff walking past us, no one offered to remove the cover from the jacuzzi or ask if we would like a drink.
To summarise, this is a nice hotel in a really picturesque location, but let down by some really odd quirks. That said, the price was very favourable. We won't stay here again if we were asked to place $300 against our card. If we don't smoke then maybe we shouldn't have an issue with this, but we visited a hotel in Seattle this week, which was also non-smoking and non smoking within 25 ft of the hotel. This was clearly signposted as you entered and I was not reminded of it by staff or asked to place $300 against my credit card.

I am sorry we did something to offend a guest.

It sounds like we did a poor job of explaining the $300 even though we may have mentioned it more than once.
We did not charge your credit card the $300. It is only to make sure the card is valid and has a sufficient limit.
I am sorry it is necessary to take a pre-authorization on credit cards. Most, if not all hotels take a pre-authorization on guest credit cards. This is what we do and it is not just for smoking in the room. It also covers room damage or theft. None of this suggests you would do any of this but we cannot always tell.
Many hotels do not explain what is being done but I want all my guests to have full disclosure.
We have had other complaints about this and we have listened and reduced the pre-authorization to $200. Again we do not actually charge the guests credit card.

There seems to be other misunderstandings as well. The cover is on the hot tub to keep it clean from blowing leaves and for energy efficiency.
Most guests just remove the cover when they want to use it then put it back on when done.
As far as drinks around the pool we have never offered pool service and probably will not. If you had of asked one of the staff you saw they would have been happy to get you a drink. In addition the lounge is not far away.
As far as signage is concerned. I am not a fan of “Do Not” signage for everything. This is why we mentioned the smoking.
Maybe you will return, hopefully so.

Great overnight stay. If your tired of city noises stay here.
We had the ribs and they were excellent We had them delivered to our room and ate them on the patio while watching a thunderstorm. We could see them golfing right next door. We'd stop again

I always appreciate that our guests will be back. Thanks for the excellent ribs comment. Sounds like you had a really nice evening on your patio, I love watching lightening and listening to thunderstorms as well. We had a great storm the other night and I missed it. Slept through it.
