“Very Impressed”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

Have passed thru Kamloops many times, but have never stayed overnight. Pleasantly surprised by this hotel/inn which has been newly remodeled.

Great value for the money as breakfast is included. Nice room with a view!

Only suggestion would be to add a few more luggage carts to facilitate transfer of bags to upper floors.

Good local restaurant recommendation from staff.

Very nice Hotel. The front desk staff courteous and professional, they even honored my husbands retired military status. Very impressed. The room was spacious and comfortable. The air conditioner was working well and fairly quiet. The most impressive thing was how clean the entire hotel is. You can tell the hotels that take pride in their work and establishment and the people that don't care and are just there to collect a paycheck. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice. Bed was comfortable. A couple of negatives are the hotel is built into a cliff or hill, so if your on the back you look out on to the dirt. The front side you look on to the street, not sure of the noise level, probably not too bad. Very good well rounded hotel for all types of traveler. Enjoyed the people, everyone from the front desk to breakfast and room staff were pleasant and polite. Just a note, they need more baggage carts small amenities like wine glasses etc. in rooms. Oh and one more thing they need to change the lay out of the bathroom. Bathrooms, including sinks should be closed off from bedroom. If your sleeping and your partner is up shaving or using the facilities it's very annoying when the lights are on and taps are running. But that's it. So the hotel is definitely an 8 out of 10.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the higher floors and not in the back if the view is important to you, although...

My daughter and I stayed for 3 nights with a large group attending a swimming competition. The hotel even opened the breakfast room early to accommodate our early morning starts. The rooms were extremely quiet, although our air conditioner was quite noisy. We had a great stay, apart from nowhere to park on one evening. Apparently this is a common problem when hotel is full.

really bad beds and mold in the bathroom. Completely not happy with this Hilton way below standards of most Hiltons I have stayed at (Gold member). Would have stayed at the Super 8 if I have known better.

The big attraction to the kids was the water slide into the swimming pool; fun. It was open until midnight.
The staff was very friendly and the kitchen staff person had an awareness of kosher products. Very helpful and appreciated.
Spacious and clean room, but we expect nothing less from Hampton.

Kamloops was a planned overnight stopping point during a trip to move a family member to the City of Vancouver. The hotel was a typical Hampton Inn and is located fairly close to the Yellowhead Highway. In fact it is in a location with numerous other hotels and restaurants. The room was fine. It was clean and the beds were comfortable, and most importantly, everything worked - including the air conditioning considering how warm it can get in Kamloops.

I have no complaint about the room, however, for whatever reason, the free breakfast and the area it is located left me rather cold. Perhaps it was my timing, but I frequently found empty trays or bowls, and although they did end up getting replenished, it seemed the staff waited until everything was gone before they got around to filling them up This meant that you really did not have choice (e.g., there may have been whole wheat bread, but if you wanted white, or an english muffin, it was not there). I found at one point when I was looking for some yogurt that that bowl was empty. The hotel did feature some hot food, but the cheese omlets were a little burnt on the edges and were barely warm. Then there were some rather odd looking "french toast sticks" that did not look that wonderful. I also found the toasters rather slow, and too few of them, and that lead to a lot of waiting, not only by myself, but others too.

I also found the breakfast area to be nondescript and boring area and it really was not an inviting area. While eating, I saw hotel staff frequently walking by the eating area and through a door to an area I assume was a staff locker room or facility. I honestly was not there more than 15 minutes, but the number of staff walking by (and some looking like they would rather be elsewhere) really stuck with me as I have never encountered this before, and likely contributed to the lack of positive atmosphere of the area.

We did not use the pool or - if they have one - the fitness facility, so that is why there is no mention of these in this review.

Would I stay here again? Maybe. But there are numerous other choices in the area. The room itself was fine. But I'm not sure taking in their breakfast would be on my agenda if I stay here in the future.

Seems more than adequate on so many levels...except one important one. Hubby has stayed here before and it accepted dogs so we came again. We were in room 223. It sounded like a heard of elephants above us and after the second wake up at 1:20 am the puppy was going nuts and had to be taken out for a walk to calm her down. Upon returning to the room the upstairs guests ran the water AGAIN and the noise in the pipes was so loud it woke the kids too. Not so awesome when you have a 4:30 wake up for a 6:45 flight with two littles and a puppy. Front desk did investigate. Address the air in the pipes please as it did it to us earlier in the night.
