We walked around Victoria Street in the afternoon, looking for a restaurant for dinner. After two weeks of West-Coast food, we were craving something "foreign". After spotting Quilas, we made a reservation for that night, although that wasn't really needed. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but has that nice, homey Mexican feel to it. Our nice waitress from Latvia was attentive throughout the night, and we even got a quick visit from the lovely owner!
As for the food itself, it was divine and not too heavy. We were given a basket of fresh warm nachos with home-made salsa while we were looking over the menu, which is unusual for West-Canada but much appreciated, seeing as they were delicious! Three of us had the margarita, which was probably the best one I've ever had (and I drink a lot of margaritas!). For starters, we shared the nachos locos and the home-made guacamole, which is made right at your table and served with fresh tortilla chips. Both appetisers were excellent! As for our main course, two of us had the rancheros quesadillas (yummy), one the chicken fajitas (great) and the fourth member of our party had the stuffed pepper (very nice). We did not go home hungry!
If you're looking for a nice Mexican eatery in Kamloops, look no further!
