So my wife and I decided a while ago that rather borrow money to do stuff, using a credit card, we decided that we would save money first before we spend it. Recognizing that our economy relies on credit cards, we bought prepaid 'credit' cards and have had almost no trouble buying stuff online, groceries etc. Imagine out surprise when we arrived at the Siesta Suites to stay for the weekend for my wife's wedding and we were told we couldn't check into our room with the prepaid card, debit, or even cash. We were told that it's policy to only use credit cards at check in, even though we could pay at check out with whatever means we would like. We told the singularly unhelpful staff member that we would pay in cash whatever deposit for incidentals they needed, to no avail. Nothing we said our offered would change the fact that it was 'policy' as if the policy came on stone tablets. Too bad, as the Coast Capri downtown was more than helpful, happy to accept our business, and is a much nicer room to boot.

Dear DJ,

We regret reading that your potential stay at the Siesta Suites was not to your satisfaction and wish the circumstances would have been more favourable in your regard.

Your room had been booked, one day prior to your arrival, by a family member to whom it was explained that a valid credit card must be produced at check-in. Unfortunately, we do not accept pre-paid credit cards for authorization. Other options, such as having a pre-authorization done on a family member's card were given, but declined by yourself.

We hope you had an enjoyable weekend in Kelowna after all.

Please feel free to contact our management team directly should you seek further details.

If you want a fancy lake side resort with an expensive restaurant then this is not the place for you. But if you want a clean well located hotel/motel with full kitchen in each suite the Siesta hits the mark.

This is my 2nd stay here and I'd do it again. The Siesta is well maintained and has a great location across the street from three grocery stores, two liquor stores, and a number of eating establishments. I have absolutely no complaints.

I stayed at the Siesta Suites because my friend's were having their wedding at the Manteo Resort during the August long weekend.

Pros:
location: it is close to the resort, beach, and grocery store.

Cons:
the overall feel of the hotel is that it is quite dated; for a basic two queen size beds on the first floor it was a bit pricey ( $149 per night).
I'm not too sure what was going on upstairs ( I stayed in a corner room) but on Saturday and Sunday morning there was this weird banging noise all morning starting at 7 am. Very annoying
I must have forgotten to put the do not disturb sign on the front door the night before but Sunday morning housekeeping was at my door at 8am knocking. I was going to be spending another night ( checking out Monday) I would have assumed they wouldn't have come around until 10 maybe?
I found the front desk to be a hit and miss: hit they let us check in early ( at 2:30pm on Friday) Miss: I lost my room key so when I told the friend desk I had managed to lose a room key one of the girls in a condescending and snarky way said " good for you honey", personally I found that side comment a bit unnecessary . I know I'm not the first nor the last guest who will lose a room key.

If you need want to stay around that area and are going with a group of friends I recommend checking out the Playa del Sol I had some friends stay there and the suites there are amazing.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 109 I believe; its on the first floor in the corner.

Dear Sheryl,

We are pleased to read that you enjoyed the quiet, yet central location of our hotel and hope you had a pleasant visit to Kelowna.

Please know that our room prices are very comparable to others and the August long-weekend is the most sought-after and costly time of the year.

It is unfortunate so hear about the noise from the suite above yours. Ground level suites are typically less noise-tolerant and, had your concern been voiced at that time, every effort would have been made to alleviate this.

Housekeeping service does not begin until the earliest at 9:30am, so I am unsure as to what occured during your stay. We regret knowing that you were inconvenience by our staff and hope you accept our sincere aplogy.

The Siesta Suites is a very basic motel in Kelowna, B.C. We stayed there as it was the hotel that my boyfriend’s niece and her fiancé requested that we stay in while we were in Kelowna for their wedding. It was a little pricey at $170 per night but it was in the height of Kelowna’s summer tourist season and since it was completely sold out it was obviously not too much of an issue for their guests.

The hotel has an outdoor pool and hot tub as well as the same indoor for when the weather is not favourable to be swimming outside. There is a gym as well that my boyfriend used and said it was basic but that the equipment was in good shape and perfect for a workout.

The Siesta Suites is located across the road from a mall that has a Starbucks so if you are not fond of hotel coffee it was a 30 second walk across the street to have your favourite Starbucks creation. In the same mall was an upper scale grocery store, a drugstore and a pizza place so all of your basic family needs are covered.

The rooms were small but had two queen beds, a larger than normal hotel sized fridge, a stove (no oven) a full supply of dishes, microwave, toaster and kettle.

The bonus for us was that outside the rooms they had patio tables and chairs as well as barbecue’s for guest use. It was the perfect scenario for families and families travelling together.

There is a public beach a block down the road that offer a wide variety of public water apparatuses.

The hotel was nothing fancy but a perfect spot for a family wanting to take in the Kelowna sun and frequent the pool and the beach.

We were up for a baseball tournament, so stayed for 5 nights over the August long weekend which is always very busy in the Kelowna area. The unit we were in had a kitchenette which was good for breakfasts & other meals if they weren't elaborate. Only note is that you need to bring up the food basics (oil, salt etc) as other than sugar the units have nothing, but decent amounts of cookware.

Indoor & outdoor pool, a bbq area, and units have Wi-Fi and a flat screen TV. A computer in the lobby if you need to print things off & laundry area but note it has to be done by 10 pm. We were in the older side so a bit dated, but for the price (our group rate about $160) it was better value than other teams we spoke to who were elsewhere.

Great location as across from a smaller outdoor mall so Save On Foods, Tim Hortons, Urban Fare, M&M, TD bank etc and also an A&W beside it & a McDonald's further down. Lakeshore Road has easy access to HIghway 97C (Harvey St) & the Kelowna hospital also on Lakeshore so if your trip is related to KGH that is a bonus.

We would stay there again, but would try to be in the newer side, & know to bring more in the way of cooking things, but overall it is worth considering for sure.

Room Tip: Ask to be put in the newer half of the property. Nicer units there.

I walked in the room and the first thing I noticed was stale cigarette smell. I looked at another room and same thing. I had to cancel my visit for the night because of a severe allergy to smoke. They were very good about it. Service was stellar! Rooms were nice and pool looked nice. If you are a smoker and can handle the smell, go for this place!
