“Modern, clean, quiet and efficient... Just what we were looking for.”
Reviewed 17 September 2009

Stayed for four days for a conference and were very pleased with the Fairfield Inn. The hotel is geared towards a business clientele and so no pub or restaurant, but that suits us just fine. Staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Continental breakfast is quite complete, including hot and cold cereal, toast, muffins, bagels, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea and even make-your-own waffles and microwavable cheese omelettes (and probably several other things I've forgotten). There's no restaurant in the hotel, but several within a short walking distance including Cactus Club, East Side Mario's, Quiznos and Tim Horton's. Many more are available along the highway in either direction. Lots of shopping nearby also. The hotel is located 10 minutes' drive from downtown and about 20 minutes from the airport. All in all we were extremely satisfied with our quiet stay and the hotel's friendly and efficient staff.

LavenderOK, Manager at Fairfield Inn & Suites Kelowna, responded to this review, 30 December 2009
This guest booked his reservation with a discounted 3rd party reservation system that did not allow him to choose a room type. His confirmation stated a room with 1 bed, no changes allowed and extra charges will prevail for any additional guests. Unfortuneately the guest arrived with several family members and the only accomodation available was at an extra charge. A telephone call to the hotel prior to arrival would have helped make us aware of the situation and a better solution could have been found. The employee mentioned is an excellent employee and did her best in this situation
.
A note for all guests booking on line, please check your confirmation closely and if you have any questions please contact the hotel and we would be pleased to ensure you have a great stay with us and there is no confusion.

This hotel on the outskirts of Kelowna is clean and relatively new. The rooms and common areas were upkept well and up to expected Marriott standards. The breakfast area was very crowded and we had to take our food back to our rooms. The workout area was basic but adequate and there were two computers in the lobby for guest use. There is an outdoor pool with a four story waterslide that I felt compelled to use even at my age.

The location was somewhat of a drawback as it is ten minutes to downtown Kelowna but it is convenient if you are heading north. Also, the highway it is located on has many choices for dining, grocery shopping, etc.

The Fairfield is a good option for Kelowna if you aren't looking for a full scale hotel with many amenities.

We needed to find a hotel to stay for my cousins wedding which was being held in Kelowna. I was very impressed with the service and cleanliness. The beds were very comfortable and it really had a home feel to it. I get it a five stars, which doesn't come easy by me, I felt that for it's class of hotel it delivered everything I expected and wanted. If we would have brought our children I know they would have loved the pool, which evedently had a nice big waterslide. The breakfast in the morning was a nice surprise, with fresh fruit, reheatable french toast and omelettes, also make your own waffles, toast and bread of many sorts and cereal to name a few items. It was great and would have easily cost us $15 to $20 per person at a restaurant, the staff there were also very nice and welcoming.

Look up Kelowna in the dictionary and you'll find it under 'bottleneck.' Unfortunately the hotel is at the far end of the strip from the bridge. We were en route and only staying one night but had to go out in the car several times. It didn't matter where we went we sat endlessly in traffic, and remember, the season isn't even close to opening. One dreads to imagine this place in July or August. The strip is dusty, noisy and very busy.
It seemed to be our trip for upgrades and the Fairfield gave us a suite. The room was excellent and the staff as helpful as could be. The hotel is clean and efficient, the breakfast varied and plentiful. There is no restaurant and no bar. I think it's an ideal short-stay hotel. I would think that the pool and slide makes it a good place for children.
A note of caution - even at this quiet time there was a bit of corridor chatting and door slamming going on during the night. We could imagine the place getting pretty lively in the height of season, so be warned if you looking for peace and quiet.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn for 2 nights on a weekend, choosing it after the great reviews on TripAdvisor. It is located on busy Highway 97, with the pool/slide being closest to the highway. There are 4 floors, and we had a 3rd floor, 2 Queen bed room and looked out onto the side street with very minimal road noise in the room. The furniture in the room was in great condition, nice large flatscreen tv, free wired internet in the room and the bathroom was spacious. The location is close to a variety of restaurants & shopping, however the area can be very congested.
The free morning breakfast had a good variety. There was the usual fruit, cereal, breads, waffles. Also available was 3 cheese omelets, french toast, 4 different juices, variety of yogurt (incl. sugar free), cheese & hard boiled eggs. The best employee we encountered while there was an older gentlemen that was the attendant at the breakfast buffet. He was very welcoming & my teenage son even commented on how nice & helpful he was.
My kids used the slide & pool one afternoon. There wasn't anyone else in the outdoor pool, and an attendant had to be called to stay at the top of the slide while they were using it. The pool is quite small, so I would imagine during the hot summers it would be very crowded.
We thought the hotel was very good and would consider staying here again, but would also consider other options and deals available at that time.

When we arrived tired and anxious for our bed at 10pm the lobby was full of loud laughter and people. The front desk person took about 5 minutes to even hear that we were at the desk and when he did, he didn't even greet us with a smile. When he told us our room was just a few steps from the lobby, I asked if we could be put in a quieter room. He said they were full and couldn't move us but that he would ask everyone to keep it down after 11pm.

We actually didn't find the lobby noise bad at all - what was bad was the sound of doors closing!! They were EXTREMELY loud. And, with so many people in and out of their rooms that night and at 6am (for an early morning hockey tournament and ball tournament), we only had a four hour window to sleep.

The second night and morning weren't any better. In fact, while trying to prepare for our morning meeting we actually had to call to the front desk (at 8:30am) and ask that they deal with the ball hockey tournament that was taking place outside our room.

The staff was less than friendly or helpful with regards to this noise. And, because we were traveling with our dog ($15/night fee) we were not allowed to move anywhere else in the hotel.

But - the breakfast was great! The rooms have internet for free. The beds are comfortable and the amenities are more than adequate. For the kids the hotel really is great - there is a waterslide and pool.

It's right across from Costco, steps from lots of restaurants and easily accessed from the highway. Like my title said - it's great for groups which there were LOTS of at this hotel for the weekend.

I have a lot of good things but for what amounted to almost $200/night with the dog fees ... I honestly expect to be able to get a quiet night of sleep. And I think the front desk service should have been much better!

I am sure during the week is much better but the door noise will still be bad.
