We recently dined at Mekong to celebrate a special occasion. What a terrible disappointment. We were quickly seated by what I believe was the restaurant owner. Our server had absolutely no personality, only showing up to write down orders with heavy sighs thrown in. The ambiance was reminiscent of the late 1980s, as was most of the service staff.
Onto what they assured us was food. We decided to split a few of their select entrees, classics such as beef and broccoli, sweet and sour pork, vegetable stir fry and chicken chow mein. It showed up unreasonably fast after we had ordered it, making me think it was pre made. Disgusting. All dishes were sludgy, unseasoned messes. I honestly can't believe people eat here. I guess their clientele of age 70+ diners must have either gotten used to it, or just plain forget what good food tastes like. As the one saving grace, the sweet and sour pork wasn't completely inedible.
After our still half full plates were cleared (no quality check) our server disappeared. All we wanted was the check so we could leave, but she must have gone on a smoke break. After 30 minutes she came back and slammed our bill and the leftovers on the table without a monotone "thanks" and disappeared again.
So will we. Never to be back again.
