“Quick stay, great location!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Stayed for an overnight business trip. Room amenities were basic with, micro, small fridge, and counter area for food prep; bathroom had some minor issues; beds were comfortable. Most rooms look out over the lake, very peaceful setting in a very convenient location. Malls, restaurants and grocery nearby and right off the highway for easy access. Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for taking time to review our property. I have to agree, it is so relaxing, yet still close to shopping, restaurants, movies, and the many businesses of North Nanaimo. It seems to work well for business travellers, with the great location, free and ample parking, high speed internet-every room has its own modem-, and complimentary continental breakfast. We are in the process of a few upgrades, including Keurig coffeemakers for our guest rooms.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and hope that next time you are able to stay a little bit longer to enjoy our lakeside setting

The three nights we spent in your hotel were blissfully peaceful and rejuvenating, thank you! We loved your generously appointed rooms and the calling of the Red-winged Blackbirds and watching the waterfowl on the lake from our balcony was so relaxing! We look after my mother with Alzheimer’s and this was the first real break we have had for many years. We are so glad we chose to stay with you ;-)

I used to live on this property in 1978 in the humble little rental units then occupying this location. You have done a wonderful job retaining as much of the natural setting as possible and mixing it with comfortable amenities to keep your guests happy and provided for.

Thank you again for our relaxing ‘home away from home’ in Nanaimo! We will enjoy coming back again when we can.

Appreciatively,
Rick and Anna Wright
PS: thank you so much for mailing our postcards too!

Room Tip: All the rooms overlook the lake. You cannot go wrong in picking a room!

Thank you. Your comments mean a lot to me, and to all of the staff at the Inn. I am glad we were able to provide you with a relaxing break from the challenges of caring for someone with Alzheimer's. I truly admire you for the ability, patience, and perseverance to care for your mother. I know the difficulty and even frustration that we encounter dealing with my wife's elderly parents.

It thrilled me to learn you had lived at this site so many years ago, and feel we have done a good job of maintaining the relaxing feel of the property. We absolutely love the photos you sent to us, and they are on our Facebook page for all to see.

Thank you again.

We only stayed one night, but were pleasantly surprised. Our room was on the top floor and we had a beautiful view of the lake. We'd had a busy and stressful day, so the serenity and closeness to nature was just perfect. We could sit outside on the balcony and listen to the birds while watching the sun set. (The chairs on the deck are adirondack style...not my favourite!) All this - and yet it's a great location for other north nanaimo shops, restaurants - all closeby.

The staff was helpful. Our room was clean and very spacious with a king size bed that was comfy. We also had a small fridge and microwave, neither of which we used since we were only there for one night. The shower was hot and water flowed well. Lots of counter space in the bathroom.

The inn advertized a continental breakfast and when we went in to 'grab a coffee and go' we were surprised to find more than just a continental breakfast. So we sat and enjoyed a nice breakfast - again with views of the grounds/lake. It was a pleasant way to start the day.

There was info in the room that you can rent canoes and paddle boats from the inn. The grounds are very nice and well cared for. Long Lake is much bigger than what you see from the highway.

The inn is really a little jewel for the area and we won't hesitate to stay there again when in the area.

Thank you for your wonderful review. I am glad that you found our little gem on the lakeshore. It is a very relaxing spot, and every room looks out on the lake-not something you can find very often in a city. I always find it soothing to just watch the water, and the birds, and the other wildlife we see from time to time such as mink, otters, and racoons are a bonus.
We do have our kayaks and pedalboats on the water now, and have some Stand Up Paddlebords on the way for the summer.
We look forward to seeing you back at our Inn on your next stay in Nanaimo.

I would like to once again thank James and his Staff for a Job well done !!
We had an association meeting with a small group of 20 using the Inns accommodations and meeting rooms. The "Staff" looked after our lunch and coffee breaks, the food was great. The rooms and suites were awesome. Thanks again for the great hospitality

Thank you for the wonderful review!
We are always pleased to welcome the BC Campground and Lodging Association to our Inn, as we have done for, I believe, 4 years now. It is a lot of work, with the meetings, meals, mini trade show, and the other requests and I must commend Becky, our Front Office Manager, as she coordinated all efforts to make it all happen.
We truly enjoy having your group stay with us, as it is a special honour to welcome so many people in the hospitality industry through our doors. And, we have a lot of fun too!
We are already thinking of some new ideas for next year!

Thank you,

One of family members recommended this motel, we found this establishment very quite/ideality located to numerous amenities (shopping malls/restaurants) on the Island Highway. This motel is uniquely located on the edge of Long Lake were you can enjoy sites & sounds, also remember it is pet friendly (dogs)! Our room was nicely situated to the far ends from the lobby on the third floor, with a fantastic view of the lake. The staff were very efficient & sought to any of our needs and you can enjoy a nice continental breakfast every morning next to the lobby and during the warmer weather there is a nice outdoor covered patio, plus complimentary coffee is available in the lobby during the day. Rooms come with nice flat screen TV, some HD channels and the fridge/microwave/coffee maker adds to your stay. If you desire try the hot tub or sauna situated at the back of the motel.

Room Tip: Note: If required, elevators are situated at the lobby & at the extreme ends of the motel.

Thank you for taking the time to post this wonderful review.
We are indeed blessed with a unique location. Right on the shore of a beautiful tree lined lake, similar to what you might expect in "cottage country", yet within walking distance of a major shopping mall and restaurants. Sitting on your balcony looking down beautiful Long Lake is a great way to relax at the end of the day, or, for the early risers, a great place to watch the sunrise over the opposite end of the lake. Personally, I love listening to the birds early in the morning along the lakeside.
We certainly all work to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as we can make it, and it sounds like we are on the right track.

Thank You,

We had a one nighter here and were not disappointed. A bit more pricey than some of the other options in this part of Nanaimo but worth it. Our first floor room had a nice view of the lake -- as all rooms do -- but I would expect it would be even nicer on the upper floors. The room was quiet, well furnished and the bed was so comfy we slept longer than we expected. The included breakfast was much more plentiful than usual -- we loved being able to prepare our own waffles.

Thank you for writing this review. I am glad that you enjoyed your brief stay with us. The views over Long Lake are wonderful-something I never tire of myself. Some people do indeed prefer the view from the upper floors, while others prefer being able to walk off their patio onto the lake side lawns area.
I am glad that you enjoyed our breakfast. We try to keep a good variety of quality items for our guests. The "make your own" waffle maker is incredibly popular with all of our guests.
I hope you will be able to stay with us more than one night on your next stopover in Nanaimo.

Thank you

It was a pleasure having the Lions Club conference stay with us! Your group was such fun to have here. Not to mention all the good work the Lions Clubs are doing helping others.

We would love to see you back in the summer. While the lake is beautiful at any time, it really is at its best when the sun is out, the trees are green, the flowers are in bloom (just a few crocuses now) and you can swim in the lake, or take a kayak or pedal boat out on the water.

Thank you,
