We won this stay for one night, and used the gift certificate last week. had a wonderful stay. happy to learn about the very varied continental breakfast in the morning. make sure you read the fine print of what you are signed when you check in, to see if you do or do not want the morning paper. there is a charge if you want it. do not feed the geese on the lawn - they are trying to keep them behind the fenced area! a great stay in our local city - thanks for having us!

Room Tip: Ground floor, patio extends out onto the lake. no elevators - so if you want higher - carry your bag...

Thank you for the wonderful review. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay.
I do have to correct two points though. While we encourage everyone to "read the fine print", there is NO CHARGE for the newspaper delivered to your room daily-never has been, and never will be. And, we have not one, but two elevators serving the upper floors. They aren't hidden, just tucked discretely away, but we make sure everyone who needs them knows where they are. Many people do like the fact that the ground floor rooms allow easy access to the lawn and lakeshore, especially any travelling with pets.

We do try to maintain a friendly relationship with the local geese-they stay on their side of the fence, and keep the mess they can make off the lawn and walkway, and we give them a little food in exchange.

I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast. I hope you also had a chance to soak in our hot tub, or rent a kayak or paddleboard to get out on the water while you were here.

Thank you

This is a three-story outside entry hotel, with balconies on the lake side. The rooms were good, beds nice and comfortable. It appears smoking is allowed on patios as there was an ashtray. There was a rather large spider web outside our door with a good size spider in it when we arrived. There was a little bit of road noise through the door from the very near highway, but not too bad. Bathroom small but adequate. Each room had it's own free wifi connection and password, which was nice. No complaints about the room really. The breakfast area is very small and crowded and was out of some things before it was over. The person working there seemed in quite the hurry to close up before time, taking things away early, including people's dishes that weren't finished. The food itself was just average. But other than that, it's a place worth staying in Nanaimo.

Room Tip: Walk outside rooms is rough and can be noisy, so further from elevators may be quiter". We were...

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
I apologize for the spider that greeted you-it is the one downside of having a gorgeous lakeshore property-nature, including spiders, is a little closer outside than if we were not located literally metres from the lakeshore. Our staff do make a continued effort to keep those spider webs down, but it is a never ending battle, and those pesky webs can reappear very quickly.
I apologize about the breakfast experience-there is no reason to push our guests out prior to closing time. While I think we have an incredible staff, sometimes we all need a reminder about the importance of customer service. We do try to keep a wide variety of items on the breakfast-baked goods, fresh fruit, yogurt, "make your own" waffles, a variety of juices, organic dark roast coffee, and hardboiled eggs- and we are certainly open to new ideas if you have anything you would like to suggest we add to it.
We currently do allow smoking on our balconies, as do most competing hotels, even those who advertise themselves as "100% smoke free". Our smoking policy is under review, and will likely be changing in the near future, and we will be keeping all guest comments in mind in shaping that policy.
Thank you again for your time, and we look forward to seeing you next time you are in Nanaimo!

This is an excellent facility - the rooms are spacious, well appointed and impeccably clean - the icing on the cake is that all rooms face beautiful Long Lake - I spent much time on the private balcony attached to my room, enjoying the ambiance and view. It felt very luxurious even though I was there for business.

Room Tip: The room was awesome - it is a bit tricky to gain access to the hotel if coming from the North - it...

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I cannot think of a greater compliment that you could pay us than to say that you wanted to stay longer. We have many business travellers stay with us, and we recognize that even if you are on business you want (and some days need) a relaxing environment to "come home to", and be able to unwind and relax. The free hi speed internet and Continental breakfast are just a portion of the experience.
We look forward to seeing you back at our Inn on your next visit to Nanaimo. Hopefully, you will be able to stay longer!

we booked into here after a late arrival on b.c. ferries.it is an excellent place to stay.had a room facing the lake- I think they all do..we were on the ground floor-lovely place for morning coffee.they provide a continental breakfast-which had a decent selection of cerels/breads/bagels,etc.I was in Nanaimo previously and stayed downtown for the same $$$ at the (Dorchester)what a contrast from( a five star rating for the inn on the lake) to a bomb of a stay at the Dorchester..pick this one-very happy.

Room Tip: I like the ground level..green grass ,trees and lake at your doorstep.great stay

I am so glad that you found us, and that you had such a great stay. You are absolutely right-all the rooms do have a view of the water. It's such a nice view, whether on the main floor, with the ability to walk directly out to the lawns, or higher up for a little more "panoramic" view. You can't go wrong either way, in my opinion.
We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Nanaimo!
Thank you.

Upon arrival we didn't realize there was an Elevator to the 3rd floor. Found it the next day. Ask at desk for the location. Room was very clean, spacious and well equipped with coffee pot, sink, refrigerator, dish towels and all the little extras. There was a nice balcony with a couple chairs and a nice view of Long Lake. It was nice and quiet. The Continental Breakfast the next day was great. Cereals, fruit, juices, muffins, bread/toaster waffle maker jams and jellies.
Def. would recommend this Inn and would def. return.
Staff was very helpful with directions we needed.
There is an indoor pool/sauna as well with a nice walkway that we unfortunately didn't get to use this visit.
This Inn is located near many different Eateries and Shopping.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of the Lake.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our lakeside Inn. It is a great place to relax, looking over the water from your private balcony-sometimes the wildlife comes out to entertain-we have Canada geese, mallards, as well asthe occasional racoon, mink and otter along the lakeshore. Not to mention red-winged blackbirds, and this week, a turtle has been patrolling the grounds! Having that at your doorstep, and movies theatres, shopping, and restaurants in walking distance is a real bonus.

We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Nanaimo!

Every room in this hotel has a balcony that faces the Lake. Enjoying sunset in this location is one of the most relaxing experiences. My wife and I had an excellent room on the 3rd floor with a great view of the lake.

Thank you David P for the great review. It is great being able to relax on your own patio or balcony and look out over the lake. The view is a bit better up high, but some prefer the convenience of being able to access the lawn and grounds from their main floor patio-which still has a pretty good view.
We look forward to seeing you on your next stay in Nanaimo.

Stayed for an overnight business trip. Room amenities were basic with, micro, small fridge, and counter area for food prep; bathroom had some minor issues; beds were comfortable. Most rooms look out over the lake, very peaceful setting in a very convenient location. Malls, restaurants and grocery nearby and right off the highway for easy access. Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for taking time to review our property. I have to agree, it is so relaxing, yet still close to shopping, restaurants, movies, and the many businesses of North Nanaimo. It seems to work well for business travellers, with the great location, free and ample parking, high speed internet-every room has its own modem-, and complimentary continental breakfast. We are in the process of a few upgrades, including Keurig coffeemakers for our guest rooms.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and hope that next time you are able to stay a little bit longer to enjoy our lakeside setting
