The Bistro at Westwood Lake in Nanaimo is a very special restaurant. Not only is the food superb but the location is idyllic.
On different occasions, we have sampled many items from the lunch, dinner and dessert menus.
My favorite is the local Dungeness crab cake sparked with a wasabi aioli, accompanied by a green salad. The fish taco with an accompanying chipolte sauce is superb. For a heartier entree try the Pork tenderloin with wild mushroom risotto and hazelnut pesto.
Chocolate buffs will love the Dark Truffle chocolate tart served with chantilly cream.
Another favorite of ours is the luscious vanilla bean cream brulee.
In good weather, reserve a table on the deck which overlooks Westwood Lake.
During cooler weather, it is a treat to dine in the well-appointed dining room that overlooks the lake
Gaetan knows wine and the wine list reflects his knowledge.
