Stayed for one night after a long day-hike. Room is simple but clean and the bed was comfortable. Air-con worked fine. Too bad we didn't arrive an hour or two sooner as we would have been able to sit out back and enjoy the semi-private deck and pleasant garden area. Close to a busy road but it didn't disturb my sleep. Recommended.
This is a great little motel for the price. The rooms are small, but clean. The reception is friendly.
There are very few amenities, but it all works. Do not be too concerned about the smell in the halls, it is only there, everywhere else is fine.
Good parking, easy access. a bit of road noise, but not bad.
The room we were given was ok, not very big but quite clean. The big problem was the noise because the room was on the main road even if at the moment of the reservation I had asked for a quiet one. The hotel staff was very kind.
We recently stayed here and were very happy with the service and cleanliness of the motel. The proprietors are very pleasant and the rooms, while small, were clean. It is on a main road and if your windows are open it can be a little noisy at night. However the rooms do have A/C so closing them wasn't a problem. There isn't much directly around the motel, so a having a car is a necessity for most things but the water is a short walk away.
The motel is located in a not so pleasant part of town to start with. It's among a long row of cheap motels. There are also quite a few businesses and restaurants that are closed down along the same street. This is a very small motel with only about 10 rooms that I could see. A number of the rooms are located within a small corridor that is accessed with a key. The doors are all key locks. The front desk is closed late and night and even through to the early morning (we left at 9 a.m. and it still appeared closed). The clerk at the front was very nice to deal with and pleasant. He has a list of ferry times and always said hi to us when we ran into him. Upon entry into the corridor a faint smell of mold was noticed. Upon entry into our upstairs room the smell was much more pronounced and was especially bad in the bathroom. It appeared that the rooms were recently renovated and has all new bathroom fixtures and counter tops. The rooms were extremely clean and tidy but were quite basic. As a note, as soon as I entered the bathroom for the first time there was a large Earwig bug crawling around on the wall. The soap on the counter and in the bathtub seemed very watered down. The beds were very comfortable and soft. The air conditioner was very loud so we chose to leave the window open instead--it can be loud during daytime traffic but at night it's not too bad despite the motel being right next to a busy road. The fridge was adequate and there was a coffee maker and kettle but there was no coffee or tea in the room. Overall it was the cheapest place to stay, but was not worth $80 a night. During off season the price drops to $50 which would have been more reasonable. If you're looking for a basic room and you don't plan on spending much time in the room (the mold smell is quite noticeable) then this is a good option. However, if you want to be in a nicer part of town and stay a in a nicer place then definitely look elsewhere.
Stayed overnight after an afternoon ferry trip from Vancouver. It is definitely a budget motel on a main road but it is close to the ferry and walking distance to downtown Nanaimo - we strolled along the foreshore. The room was small with 2 double beds but clean and neat and the beds were comfortable. We had a room on the second level overlooking the back garden so had minimum road noise. For the price it was a bargain.
