Description: In house offerings of fresh baking, a full breakfast and lunch menu, an extensive Sunday brunch; and on location catering for weddings and events. COCO Cafe is a project of Cedar opportunities Co-operative. Our mission is to operate a successful social enterprise that provides employment, training, and socialization opportunities for people with developmental disabilities within their community. Cedar Opportunities Co-operative (COCO) was established in 2007 by families in the rural community of Cedar, all of whom shared a vision of full inclusion for their family members with developmental disabilities. In June 2011 COCO Cafe opened its doors as a realization of this concept. From its initial cafe operations, Cedar Opportunities Co-op has grown its services to offer a full catering, and a retail food department. We pride ourselves in continuing to grow the social aspect of our enterprise in the coming years. COCO continues to provide many permanent employment opportunities for our staff with developmental disabilities and looks forward to expanding opportunities in the future. In 2014 COCO Cafe provided approximately 3300 hours of supported employment. With increased cafe business and catering operations in our community in 2015 our supported employment was increased to approximately 4400 hours. In 2016 we project increase of additional 25%, to 5500 hours by extending our operational hours to include dinner service and by continuing to grow our catering department.

We went to Coco Cafe today for lunch. We hoped it would be nice. I didn't like it. I LOVED it! First we ordered and there was a 6 or 7 minute wait for the food. The red wraps were tomato flavour. The Curried Vegetable Wrap was delicious, so was the Cheese Quesadilla. Then we ordered a Nanaimo bar. While staying in Nanaimo I thought it would be nice to try it. It was delicious! The coffee was good too. Wonderful little cafe which I would definitely recommend!

We have experienced COCO Cafe with catering and also eating in the restaurant and we were thrilled both times. It's not just the food that's good, it's the entire experience. From the delightful staff to their philosophy to the awesome wholesome food. I just wish they were closer to where we live!

A favourite place in our neighbourhood to enjoy coffee or lunch with friends in a friendly, cheerful environment! Kudos to this cooperatively owned cafe that supports and employs people with special needs! They have been popular and well-loved since the day they opened! This is a cafe with a presence and a good place to enjoy food. They also do super catering.

Further .....my family and I have frequently visited Coco's (individually and in various numbers)......for breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee -
mid morning and late afternoon. My only regret ....they aren't available in the evenings....;(
