“Easily the best dim sum ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

We have eaten a lot of dim sum in our lifetime and this has to be the best! Busy bustling restaurant, faithful clientele, friendly staff, good service...all of these shine but the real star....the food! Large dim sum menu with the standards and several surprises. Prices are reasonable for large portions. Shrimp and pork dumplings, Shanghai noodles, garlicky green beans are stand outs. The prices beg you to experiment and try something new and different. Food arrives quickly and too hot to eat! Tea replenished without asking, even though the staff were running to serve the full house. Besides dim sum, there is the regular menu and all of the items we've sampled have been excellent. Love this place.

“Great dim sum, excellent service, friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2013

Well after Po King closed in Burnaby, we've been looking for a decent dim sum place locally that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (the ones that serve dim sum in Metrotown are really expensive). Took a chance on Spring Garden in New Westminster and I'm glad we did. Had lunch there with my parents, wife & two girls there. We ordered a lot of food (gotta have leftovers to snack on afterwards, am I right?). The shrimp spring rolls were delicious, small but very crispy. The steam pork ribs with black bean was less oily, less fatty than at a lot of other places. The seafood congee, har gow (pork dumplings), sui ma (shrimp dumplings) and rice noodle wrap with prawn were all big hits with everyone and we all know our dim sum very well. Also had the beef fried flat noodles, char sui pao (bbq pork steam bun) and chicken feet, which were also very popular with the family. The seasonal veg (gai lan) with oyster sauce was ok (I prefer younger, smaller gai lan) and the halibut in special soy sauce was tasty, but small. Overall, excellent flavour and value. Total bill came out to $57 plus tax & tip, which considering we had four containers of left overs, is a very inexpensive dim sum meal for the family.

After we finished the head chef even came out to talk to us and ask us how we liked the food. It was like something you see on Food Network and one of the first times I can remember that happening to us personally. Very nice, personal touch. Friendly guy and the ladies who served us were also friendly and efficient.

This is a small restaurant and not a place you go for the ambience (Greater Vancouver has lots of fancier, pricier places for that), but for a really good tasting dim sum at very reasonable cost, its hard to beat Spring Garden Seafood Restaurant in New Westminster.

“Great dim sum at a great price!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2012

There are not many options for dim sum in New Westminster but my daughter and I found this little place listed on the internet with good reviews and gave it a shot on a Monday morning. It was open when we got there at 11, we were the only customers. We ordered a handful of classic dim sum items (rice rolls, spareribs, suimai, hargow, spring rolls) and all were fresh, tasty and prepared to order. The total bill for six items and tea was $22.00. Service was very pleasant. Parking in back is handy.
