Where do I even begin? I'm sure we've all encountered deficiencies in hotel rooms before...not a huge deal...but I've never been treated like I was by the woman running the place. Our air conditioner, fridge, tv remote, and bbq were not working properly, so we went to the office to speak with someone. In 39 C heat, my 8-month pregnant wife and I were not comfortable and were hoping they could do something about it. We were told by the manager that the AC didn't work because we had too many people in the room. Huh? She said the fridge didn't work because we "crammed" it with food. It should cool its contents over-night, but we still just had 6 small bottles of water in it. She told me I never called the front desk, but I did (and left messages). She said the breaker tripped because of my wife's curling iron. My wife didn't even bring a curling iron. She told me I never contacted the handyman, but I did (he was helping us out all night with things). When asking for compensation for a room that wasn't equipped as advertised, she told us it's not that expensive when divided 4 ways. Excuse me? You don't know anything about my financial situation.

She finally agreed to get the evening shift worker who started at 4pm to find us a room in another hotel. We would still have to pay for the first night, but we wouldn't be charged for a second. The evening worker got a room by 5:30 pm and we were out within 2 hours (reasonable, I think). The next day my wife returned to verify that there is no outstanding invoice, and we were told that we were being charged for the second night! She said she "changed her mind" and she had more important matters to attend to and didn't want to deal with us. Obviously upset, my wife demanded that she deal with the matter at hand. The manager then instructed the handyman to physically remove my pregnant wife, and threatened to call the RCMP.

We disputed the charges with Visa to no avail. She made up complete lies (e.g. we weren't supposed to have 4 people in the room, we plugged in all sorts of electronics that broke the AC, they booked us a room in the morning and we weren't out until the evening, etc.), so Visa didn't reverse charges - we were still dinged with the charges.

If anything positive can be drawn from our horrible experience, it will be to save others from the same debacle we experienced.

Wow, where can I start. The lady running the resort was absolutly the most offensive person I have ever encountered in the service industry. The rooms were worn out and the beds were old and dipped in the middle. It was not worth the rates we were charged.

We stayed at the Tiki and loved our visit. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The rooms were clean and a very good size, some even have private patios with BBQ's, this doesnt seem to be offered at other hotels on the strip. Oh and the location is fantastic right across the street from the beach. There is a resturant on site and again many restaurant choices on the strip.
The staff was eager to suggest many must see's in town which was helpful. Penticton is a beatiful place!

We were planning to stay for a night in Penticton and knowing how hard it is to find vacancy in Penticton in the summer, we made sure to call one day in advance to make reservations. While deciding where to book we called the tiki shores twice to check their rates. I called once and my boyfriend called once and both times, the receptionist kindly assured us that they had vacancy for the next night. At this point i made a booking on my credit card. When we arrived into the busy town where all hotels were booked solid, we went straight to Tiki Shores to get our room. It was still pretty early in the afternoon at this point. When we arrived there, the same receptionist told us that our reservations were not for that day but for the next and advised us that it was OUR mistake. We tried to explain to her that this was not possible as both of us had confirmed availability with her and unless you are a total moron you should not be confusing 'tomorrow' with any other day. She did not offer any help or admit any fault. I asked her to help us find another room. Of course the only motel left in town was a crappy Super 8 which was as far as possible from the beaches. We asked that since it was their mistake, if they could reimburse us for the difference of the even more inflated room at Super 8. This of course she refused to do as well. While it was only a $50 difference, on straight principal we asked to speak to the manager as her blaming the double booking on us was plain insulting. The receptionist accidently gave us the manager's home # which of course we did not know. When we called her, she greeted us with 'how did you get my number'?. We quickly found out where the receptionist got her poor customer service from as her manager would not take blame and of course not offer anything to compensate us. When we told her we would post a review on the internet about her [-] poor service, she said ' I will not take well to threats'. Well lady, it was not a threat, its a consequence of giving poor service when you serve the public. Never stay at this awful hotel as the staff are so rude. Oh and Ms. Manager, we still have your home phone #!
