The operators of this property must really love their hotel, beacause it's obvious they've worked very hard to keep this property in top condition. In fact, on my first day, I saw a worker carefully placing ornamental gravel around one of trees in the parking lot.
The rooms are large & clean, and all feature a flat screen TV and oh so important refrigerator. The big bonus is that all rooms facing the (beautiful) lush grassed courtyard all have huge PATIOS to enjoy the beautiful Okanagan weather. Beds were the old-style "bedspread" type but were comfortable and featured both thick and thin pillows. Rooms also have a sitting table, dresser, and extra large wardrobe.
The toilet and bathtub are located separately from the sink (which is actually near one of the beds). I found the air conditioning slightly inadequate. The room eventually got cool enough, but took about 1/2 hour to do so (instead of the usual 10 - 15 minutes).
One big advantage to this hotel are the two pools (one large outdoor and one smaller indoor) PLUS a small waterpark for the kids, tweens, and teens. The hotel has a very small fitness room with a treadmill, universal gym, and a recumbent bicycle. There are also two internet stations in the lobby.
Other than toasted items (breads, bagels, and English muffins), the complimentary breakfast did not feature any hot food. Cereals, fruit cocktail, hard-boiled eggs, mini muffins, small danishes, coffee, tea, juices, and 2% milk were available. The breakfast room was more than adequate, and also featured a TV tuned to a news channel. Hours of breakfast were 6:00 - 10:00 AM.
My group room rate (we had 10 rooms) was $89 per night, which I thought was good, especially since the hotel is a 5 - 7 walk from the beautiful Okanagan Lake beach.
Our group was a sports team, and many teams use this hotel. Kids being kids, they will "explore" the hotel and play games (sometimes loudly). To avoid most of the noise, pick a 2nd floor room (provided you don't have mobility issues, as there is no elevator) to avoid the sound of those little feet above you.
Bottom line, great family hotel providing good value.
What a thorough & impressive review of our property. From a guest's perspective, I couldn't have done it better myself & we very much appreciate your bottom line - 'great family hotel, providing good value'.
Thank you for sharing!
We had a great stay at the Days Inn, Penticton, BC Canada. Although we live only 1.5 hr. away, we decided to take a weekend off and take a look at the RV Show happening on the weekend. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were very very quiet. We also enjoyed the restaurant onsite - the food was really good. The hotel also offered a continental breakfast, which was greatly appreciated and good as well! We had an awesome weekend - thank you Days Inn !
Dear Elaine & Rodger,
You're most welcome! It was our pleasure to have accommodated you during your most recent visit to the RV show.
We very happy to know you found the property quiet & comfortable & that you enjoyed hotel amenities such as the yummy Black Iron Grill & Steakhouse. Due to their outstanding food & varied menu selection, BIG is a favorite with both guests & local residents!
Thank you for sharing your comments. We'll look forward to your next visit!
The rooms would be ideal for larger groups/teams/families. Our room featured a glorious king bed and a murphy bed that pulled down from the wall. There is a swimming pool and the skate park is right across the road. No frills, but if you're in Penticton, hopefully you're at the beach all day anyways. Good price & nice to have a fridge. Walls are a bit thin so you might want earplugs in case, but, even with several teams staying there, everything was quiet by 10 and we had no issues. Free parking & plenty of it. Basic continental breakfast: toast, cereal, juice, coffee etc.
Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback & observations. We're happy to know your team was comfortable & that very much appreciate your commendations.
As you've noted, we are a clean, comfortable hotel that provides good overall value to our guests. We're NOT a high end property as you've pointed out, but our property amenities & wonderful location offer great benefits to our guests, whether travelling as an individual, a family or as a team.
