Description: Head Chef Brent Pillion and his team at The Bistro serve exceptional, contemporary wine country cuisine complemented by breathtaking views of vineyard and Lake Okanagan. Located in the heart of Naramata Bench wine region, Hillside prides itself in proving its customers with the “Ultimate Naramata Experience”. Hillside’s well-equipped cellar, under the direction Winemaker Kathy Malone, produces top quality Okanagan Valley wines destined for many markets. Unique, small-lot, and terroir-driven are terms best used to describe our wines. Our focus is showcasing hand-crafted wine made exclusively from our estate vineyards and other Naramata grape growers.

Four of us went for a simple, light dinner on a Sunday evening and we had a very good dinner, with excellent service and very good food. The wine list is a little short but the Cabernet Franc was good and we sample a couple of others that were good as well. We recommend going here. We've had lunch on the outdoor patio before and recommend that as well.

We especially like the informal atmosphere at the Hillside Winery and Bistro. The staff were particularly friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The pork cheecks with gorgonzola pecans, apple, endive and maple sauce was excellent as was the lemon sponge dessert.

Four of us showed up for dinner late one evening without reservations. We were promptly seated on the patio (by request) even though it was a cool evening – the patio has a heater lamp and allows for a nice view of the old bell tower; we were given blankets by our waitress to stave off the fall chill in the air. While waiting for our food we perused the inside of the bistro viewing the local art on the walls.
We all ordered something different – trout with mussels, risotto, steak, and pork cheeks. Everything was flavourful, well portioned, and the meat was literally cut with your fork and melt in your mouth delicious! We finished with scrumptious desserts to top it all off! This Bistro is my top fav place to eat on the Bench!

There appears to be a lack of regard for walk-in diners/non-regulars at this establishment and a staff person who has been promoted to a level beyond her customer relations training and capability.

We were enjoying the evening's entertainment with a glass of wine and an appy on the patio, at a table that was reserved by another couple for later in the evening. When the "VIP" couple arrived, we immediately vacated the table politely. Not fast enough apparently, as the over zealous "supervisor" actually scolded us in front of the other guests! When another couple invited us to join them at their table for a glass of wine, she refused to let us stay and demanded we leave the premises immediately. What an unbelievable way to treat any customer, let alone an appreciative, amiable, 50+ couple.

We won't take a chance here again, and we wouldn't recommend you take a chance either. There are plenty of better patios in the Okanagan. We have had lovely meals and professional service at Gray Monk, Lake Breeze, Hester Creek, just to name a few.

In the Naramata Bench area this is a great dining experience. A wonderful outdoor bistro with 5 star food. Wine pairings are available with each course.
