I got married at God's Mountain Estate on the weekend and I couldn't say more good things about Sarah and her B&B. We rented out the entire B&B and, as such, were able to see all of the rooms. Each room is beautiful in it's own way. The beds were so comfortable and we just loved the miniature flower arrangements made with local flowers. The B&B as a whole looks like a slice of the Mediterranean that was transported to BC. The inside has been expertly decorated in a eclectic shabby chic manner and is so full of one of kind pieces!

Sarah was the most helpful and gracious host. She let us come up hours before check in so that we cold start decorating for the wedding and was so helpful in letting us know what had worked best for previous weddings. She let us move things around and even let us use some of her own furniture. Once it started to get dark on the wedding night she hung up lanterns and tealight filled jars in the trees around where we were dancing which helped to add to the ambiance. She even took pictures of our wedding and had them all developed less than 24 hours afterwards and presented them all to us with a card when we left which shows how sweet a lady she is.

The reason she does not want children there is because there are so many antiques that could be damaged and because there are areas that could be potential dangerous for them. There is a pool and the B&B itself is situated on the edge of a cliff overlooking Skaha lake which could be a hazard for young children. She openly advertises this and I think this point is totally understandable as not all areas are appropriate for children and nor should they have to be. She of course allows children for the day of the wedding.

I am perplexed by the other users' experience of being unable to drive their bus up the hill. We had a 24 person shuttle come up the the B&B four times on the wedding day to transport guests to and from the venue. It was able to do this and turn around without any issues and that was with every parking space being occupied.

The breakfast that is served each morning is unbelievable. There are quiches, muffins, cheeses, sausages, crumbles, fruit, omelettes, yoghurt, breads, bruccetta, grilled cheese and so much more.

All of our guests that stayed at the B&B as well as everyone who attended the wedding only had the nicest things to say about God's Mountain and many told me they planned to come back. This is the ideal spot for relaxation and/or romance. Sarah helped to make our wedding day absolutely perfect and I can't imagine having done it anywhere else. God's Mountain is an absolute gem.

Room Tip: Each room is so unique and each has their own focal point. Some have amazing bathrooms, others have breathtaking views. The roofless room is one of a kind and it is wonderful to watch the sun rise and set from the bed! Room # 5 and the Penthouse have AC

Stayed here for 3 nights with relatives, who had been before and it came highly recommended. I had expected some sort of "retreat" with meditation and crystals, based on the information from relatives. However, whilst the building and interiors are definitely quirky, and you can get an excellent reflexology session on the patio, this is no retreat. We had booked the penthouse, which was like living in a castle turret - very romantic. On Sunday evening we had booked the gourmet al fresco dinner on the terrace from Joy Road catering. Initially the weather turned poor, so everything was moved indoors, which made it very noisy, especially as the group was unusually large - over 50 people. However, after the first course, the weather cleared and everything was moved back out on the terrace. The meal was truly atmospheric and wonderful, helped along by the fantastic service and lights hanging from the trees. Everyone sat at a long tressle table, so talking to new friends was a must.
Breakfast is not served until 09.00am, but worth the wait. Go for an early morning swim in the pool, or a hot tub, or just watch the sun come up around the lake. Sarah, the owner, is a delightful person, extremely friendly and very thoughtful. When I mentioned my expectation for some crystal style retreat, she gave me a crystal as we left - an excellent joke!
I can imagine that this estate is not everyone's taste, but we felt totally relaxed, amongst new friends, in an amazing environment. Just make sure that your transport can get up the very steep road to the estate. Also try the cherries straight off the trees - so different from shop bought fruit.

Being British we are used to ecentricities and thus booked the roofless room - WOW - Just perfect for us - and a huge amount of fun.

We didnt expect the extra rooms though and loved the ambling layout of the communal rooms - steeped in a marvellous collection of antiques, curios and crazy collections of memory trigger items.

Sarah is the most charming down to earth person with a fantastic strength and she has created a secluded sanctuary for people who like to experience something different, something memorable - we will be talking about this haven forever.

This is now "Sarah's Mountain" ..................

Not only is God's Mountain Estate an organic vineyard and an eclectic B&B, it is also the location of a delectable el fresco meal every Sunday evening during the Okanagan summer. Nestled half-way up a mountain-side about 6 minutes south of Penticton, this B&B offers spacious common rooms furnished with antiques, books, instruments and bouquets of local flowers. This creates a relaxing atmosphere encouraging conversations with other visitors.

Fully equipped indoor & outdoor kitchens are open to guests. Although breakfast was superb, the evening meal was the highlight. Requiring separate reservations from the B&B, the 4 course repast was created & served by Joy Road Catering. The chef owners , Cam & Dana, featured local produce & paired the four courses with regional vintages. Soup from freshly shelled green peas captured the essence of spring.

About 28 diners gathered around a common linen draped table under the trees overlooking the lake. Although we had not met each other before, conversations flowed more easily as the evening progressed. A wonderful way to spend an evening in the Okanagan wine country.

Room Tip: Room 5 faces the lake on the second floor & has its own private balcony. The roofless room is unique & you sleep under the stars.

The Sunday and Thursday alfresco dinners are a not to be missed event at God's Mountain. Worth booking to stay around one of them if you can get a reservation. The local food, often grown, as in the pork, by Joy Road or charcuterie created by Cam, or sourced from local producers. The owners of Joy Road represented BC at the 2012 Slow Food Conference in Italy which is an indication of their calibre. The presentation is as much a feast for the eyes as the taste is for the palette and tummy. With wine pairings it makes for a formidable evening. Sharing the long dining table with strangers may seem intimidating, but not in reality, the chat flows and new acquaintances are soon made.
Well worth planning a trip around.

Room Tip: As we have not stayed in a room we cannot vouch for room characteristics
