“Ocean Views!”
Reviewed 31 May 2012

We have stayed at this hotel over many years and always enjoy our experience here. Once for our anniversary, they upgraded us to the jacuzzi room with a beautiful ocean view. We loved it! We have also stayed here with our children and they enjoy going into the public jacuzzi, there is also a nice work out room with various machines.

I love going to the restaurant. We have never had a bad experience. And looking out at the water is so mesmerizing. Our favourite is having breakfast there and their coffee is excellent! My sister had her wedding here as well and it was wonderful. Everything was so nice and the catering was good, food was delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room.

We were lucky to get an upgrade room which was in fact a luxury suite. We did spend one night in a standard and we found it more than adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable.

Restaurant was picture perfect overlooking the harbour. Saw many bald eagles while we having breakfast. The food was good if a little too American. (Tea was pretty poor). Bar was good - good range of beers and welcoming atmosphere.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a harbour view room.

My wife and I spend three nights at the Crest Hotel. We booked a two-night special where we had $100 credit for meals.

The room the first night was small and very warm. It had a window seat with a ocean view.

I requested we move to another room the next day and the staff graciously complied. They admitted that the first night's room was located over the furnace area. When the sun is up, you need to keep your windows open and a fan would also help because the rooms reach 78 degrees F.

Although the rooms are small, they are generally clean and well-appointed. However, there is no safe.

The high points were the very good food at the restaurant and the highly qualified, customer-oriented staff.

Room Tip: The Crest Hotel is several miles from the BC Ferry and requires a taxi for a C$15 fare.

If we have a special event or just want a treat the Crest is always our first choice. The menus are varied regularly and while pricey the view from the diningroom and service in the pub next door make it a fun place. We have never stayed there unfortunately but family and co-workers do regularly and seem to love it.

Room Tip: ocean view is more expensive but definately worth it.

The Crest appears to be a long established hotel maybe the first in Prince Rupert. It has an old fashioned feel with the room furniture a little tired. Despite this it is a nice hotel. The staff are welcoming and attentive. The rooms are no more than average in size but the beds and pillows are good. The bathrooms are small be nicely refurbished with a walk in shower. Not so easy to find particularly if you arrive on the Port Hardy ferry at 11pm! It is in the town centre on a small hill overlooking the sound. The view from the restaurant is outstanding. The hotel even provides binoculars for guests to use whilst eating their meal. One downside is that it is ajacent to a casino and the hotel bar is used by non residents until midnight casusing some noise. Not cheap but overall a good one night stay.

Room Tip: Get a room at the rear of the hotel

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience. The Crest Hotel is happy to be celebrating our 50th year in business in Prince Rupert. We recently renovated most of our harbour view rooms including new furnishings, tvs, and linens and will complete the balance of all guest rooms this fall.

We are expecting our new roof top sign in the coming weeks to ensure guests can easily find our location. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed the room amenities and our great location overlooking Prince Rupert harbour.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Crest Hotel on your next visit to Prince Rupert.

I'm writing this review from my desk in room 201 at the Crest Hotel in Prince Rupert. To my left is an inviting reading chair, a gas fireplace with a flat screen tv atop. To my right is a panoramic view of the Prince Rupert Harbour, a freighter carefully maneuvering about and a bald eagle perched in a tree so close I don't need the complimentary binoculars sitting on the bench seat below the window. I've known about the Crest for years but this is my first time staying and it hasn't disappointed. Quality furnishings and amenities are always on my check list when rating a room and the Aveda products, walk in glass enclosed shower and huge soaker tub all deliver. The king size bed was very comfortable and I could have slept longer but chose to leave my window open to enjoy the early morning view. If you can, upgrade to one of these amazing view rooms. I'm sure the rest of the regular units are nice but the real experience - the room matching the Super, Natural view, is worth the extra.

Room Tip: 201 - (and likely 301) spoil yourself with the amenities and the view!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to learn you enjoyed your stay at the Crest Hotel and the additional amenities of our suites.

I hope our resident bald eagle did not wake you. He is currently perched in the same tree searching the harbour for his breakfast.

We continue to invest in additional improvements to the hotel and this winter plan to renovate all of our guest rooms with new furnishings, linens and carpets.

We look forward to having you join us again on your next visit to Prince Rupert.

The rooms in this establishment are nice, the dining was terrable , when staff were informed of a butter alergy and was told it would not contain butter in my wifes order and realized immediatly it did , so we were basicly lied to by staff. The cooks were basicly teenagers and the casino next door served twice the quality at one half the price and cooked by a actual chef
