“A week here is heaven”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We had a fantastic week here after a weeks fishing in terrace. The weather was sunny continually which is unusual as prince rupert gets 280 days rain!
The Crest Hotel is a lovely hotel,we had harbour view room with king sized bed which I can say is a must. The view from our room was one of the most beautiful.
The restaurant is exceptional we enjoyed our meals so much, only ate out once, at Smiles Cafe, that was fun.
I did have one evening meal at Crest Hotel that was really quite uneatable, I had ordered on a previous night & enjoyed it, go I knew what I should have recieved, was disappointed but they soon replaced it & it was delicious, but always not as enjoyable
I can certainly recommend this hotel.

We arrived earlier than the usual check in time of 3 pm AND had previously advised the booking office of this fact. Thankfully Reception hastened our check in whilst we enjoyed a delicious very late breakfast overlooking the river - approx $25/$35 pp! The restaurant/breakfast staff were so happy and helpful!
Our room- king size with river views was so beautiful and with a FANTASTIC "bay window" to view the happenings on the river!! Just so lovely!! Location location
Had a chat with "local" man who told us About the sunken gardens - all tended by volunteers WELL worth the visit!!
This hotel is close to the beautiful and picturesque sunken gardens (easy 7-10 min walk), few mins walk to the museum $6 pp, opposite Safeway and 5 -7 mins from Walmart,
The Stiles Seafood /pasta Restaurant 5-7 min walk - turn right and walk up the road. The hotel has many restaurants within easy walking distance plus the Crest has a lovely restaurant within it! Next door is Chances which has slot machines and bingo etc
The front desk/reception staff are so helpful and efficient with arranging taxis and check out - nothing was a problem.
A Taxi from Ferry terminal/ VIA Rail Terminal to the Hotel is approx $10 incl tip and apparently VIA rail is often late leaving/arriving!

We booked a night in this hotel to enjoy a night of luxury after a full day of train travel. Unfortunately, we did not know ahead of time that the train routinely arrives 2-3 hours later than scheduled and that it would take an hour of travel to get to the local airport in this small town. (The airport run requires a cab, a shuttle and a ferry trip from this hotel.)

As a result, we had only 8 hours between arriving and having to get back in a taxi for the next leg of our trip.

Based on this, we did not find the $200 room rate (incl. taxes) and the $38 for eggs, bacon and coffee for 2 to be very good value for the money.

But if we were planning a longer stay in Prince Rupert, we'd go back to the Crest. The staff were great, the room was luxurious and well appointed, and the food in the restaurant - though pricey - was delicious.

Just a note - this hotel is not air conditioned. It's rare for the weather to be hot and humid, but we arrived in a heatwave and found that it took about an hour to get the room cool enough for sleeping.

Haven't stayed at the Crest for a number of years and was I ever surprised and pleased to stay in a comfortable, updated room complete with all the amenities. Staff are friendly and competent and the dining room is likely one of the better eating establishments in town.

Harbor side rooms are definitely a plus for the wonderful view!

Room Tip: The Harbor side is definitely something to ask for. Away from the traffic noise and the view (when...

Probably the nicest hotel in Prince Rupert. Lobby and common areas are very attractive. Rooms look very nice. We stayed two separate times for one night apiece (before/after going to Ketchikan Alaska)... first time we got a large room, but had no A/C (and no screens on windows)... 2'nd time we got a tiny room... but it had A/C. Ice is only available on certain floors and parking is limited. If a different setting I may have only given it 3 of 5 on the rating... but the other hotels didn't look nearly as nice.

Stayed in the hotel for three nights during a recent fishing trip and found the hotel, lounge and personnel working in the hotel very attentive. I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying for one night or multiple nights. I agree with other reviewers that the harbour view rooms are the one to request.

Room Tip: Harbour view rooms on the south side have a very good view of the bald eagle that perches out side...

As long as you book a Harbour View room, your views will be great, but not on the first floor. If you don't specify, you may look out over the parking lot, which would be a shame. Rooms a little on the small side and air con not working. We ate here in the Waterfront restaurant - it was busy, but we were served quickly. Nothing flashy on the menu, but if you don't mind simple it's not bad for the price. Make sure to book though. A Bald Eagle resides in the tree just outside on the waterfront side, good to see!!
