Excellent information on the history of local First Nations, as well as on the beginnings of Prince Rupert. It was the second time 2 of our party had been in it and we all spent and hour and a half there, without getting bored.

When you enter, the first thing to notice is the smell of cedar, strong and rich in the entrance way. The desk is right there to pay your fee ($6 for adults) and then it's into the exhibits.

A majority of what's available deals with the First Nations presence in the area, including items from shell middens, blankets, art, common and special items. The write ups were interesting, and I read most of them. The other major part of the exhibits were from when Prince Rupert was established, and its early days. I found the path through the exhibits to not be super clear, but I did see everything in the main hall.

My favourites were the view from a room facing the sea, with a few boats out in the harbour. It was bright, and there were a few neat exhibits in there. I also liked the 'storage room display' where they had items from storage put out with no real relationship to one another.

I stopped in the gift shop and picked up a few small things and headed out. I liked the history, though I'm not a huge art buff; if you liked both, this might be wonderful for you.

Full of information on the history of the area with some good exhibits. Great place for souveniers and postcards.

The museum has a great collection of items which display the culture and history of the people, the fishing industry, and the railroad.

Worth the visit to this small but interesting museum. If you are not into museums or are with kids who may not yet appreciate a museum, this is a good one to go to as you learn enough but are not there for hours. Great gift shop as well and prices were cheaper here than in some of the stores in town selling the same items.
