got a room on 4th floor, looks like lately renovated, clean but with some sort of chemical smell which is okay. huge 46 inch screen LCD TV! Room has a harbour view facing the highliner hotel.
has ice makers and vending machines. Staff are friendly and helpful.amenities within walking distance, shopping mall downstairs and famous players as well! Coupons are subservient when it comes to gamble and dine out.Continental breakfast : you have to go there before 9 otherwise the lady will take everything away.

Room Tip: every room has sea view.

I stayed one night and requested a 5th floor room as advised. The front desk clerk was helpful and the breakfast good. The room was very small and seemed cramped even with only 2 of us and one bed. There wasn't much for restaurant selection in the area when we got in after 9:00 PM though.

Dear Kelly B,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Prince Rupert Hotel.

Our rooms are a little smaller than what some guests experience when staying at hotel in larger urban centres; this is true. However, we hope that the updates and breakfast inclusion more than make up for that. Our brand new Penthouse Lounge will be opening soon and will undoubtedly add value to the overall product as does the brand new high bandwidth WiFi that is now available throughout the hotel in the guest rooms as well as the common areas.

It is unfortunate that you were unable to find a dining establishment late in the evening. Being located downtown, the Prince Rupert Hotel has a number of good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Thanks again for posting a review and we hope that you will come back and visit us!

I stayed on the 5th floor of this hotel that used to be a Coast Hotel. The room itself was nice, but very small. The room had been renovated and everything inside was new and had a large TV. At checkout I was told that the 5th & 6th floors had been updated. Lower floor rooms were in need of renos. My colleague stayed on the 4th floor, which was $20 cheaper than the 5th or 6th floor.

Room Tip: 5th & 6th floors nice.

Dear Ron H,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Prince Rupert Hotel. We endeavour to address all reviews and ensure that we learn from each guest's perspective as much as possible.

The rooms at our hotel are not as large as what some guests expect after staying in a hotel in a large urban centre; this is true. The rooms on the 5th and 6th floors were recently given a deep refresh and updating; happy to hear that you like what we have done.

The rooms on the lower floors have had some updating as well, but just not to the same extent as the top floors. Hence the difference in price. More updates are planned for the future.

It is our hope that the inclusion of breakfast adds value to the overall product.

Our brand new Penthouse Lounge will be opening soon, and this will undoubtedly add value as well.

Thanks again!

We stayed here before an early morning ferry. We had booked our room, and paid or it months before. The greeting we received was very friendly and efficient, but our room was on he second floor, I had read that these rooms were not good, when I challenged her she said the were very booked up but said she would see if she could swap us, the room we we given was at the end of the corridor. It was bright, and clean but tiny, and a very small bed, no fridge, the room was stuffy but the air con unit very noisy also lots of other noises from the plumbing.
Not a good place to be when you have an early morning start.

Dear Viv E.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Prince Rupert Hotel. It is unfortunate that your experience did not match your expectations. We value all guest feedback and do our best to learn from everyone's perspective and apply what we have learned. Your reservation was made through a Wholesale Travel Company. In these circumstances, the hotel has the option of assigning a particular room type. In this case you were initially assigned an Economy Room on a lower floor. Travel Wholesale companies typically do not want to pay for upgraded rooms. In this case, you were upgraded to a Standard Room on a higher floor. However, due to volume of business, the available room was, as you say, at the end of the hall. Due to the building configuration, these rooms are typically smaller and have only one Queen bed in them instead of two Double beds. None of our Economy and Standard Rooms have fridges in them; only our Premium Rooms do. In order to upgrade you to a Premium Room we would have needed to contact the Wholesale Travel company in order to ensure they would pay for the upgrade, or we could have offered it to you if you were willing to pay for it yourself. If this offer did not happen I apologize for that mishap.

We do appreciate your comments on the cleanliness and tidiness of the room. We strive for that. Unfortunately the BC Ferries schedule is such that escaping the early morning ferry departure is unavoidable no matter where you are staying in Prince Rupert.

We do hope that you will visit us again and thank you for your feedback.

We stayed at 12 hotels in Canada- from Quebec to Vancouver and including a number in smaller towns. This was the only one that really disappointed us. I am not sure what floor we were on- think it might have been 4 but the room we were given was facing the main street right at the end of the corridor. Passing other rooms in the morning, the doors were open and we could see that they were all larger than the one we were given- and we were there for 2 nights. There was nothing really nice about the room. It was I suppose- adequate! The staff were efficient- but cetainly not welcoming or friendly as in other hotels we stayed at.. Also we have no problem in giving a credit card for a swipe- in case of incidentals- this seems to be standard in Canada. But this was the only hotel where we are asked to actually "sign or pin". Other reviewers have waxed enthusiastic about the complementary breakfast.we thought it was pretty basic - not something we would have wanted to pay for anyway. And on the dot of 9am- it all started to disappear! true, a staff member did ask us if we wanted anything else. but the atmosphere was not conducive to staying around.

I thought the whole place was drab and in need of a facelift and would certainly would be looking for an alternative if I ever visited Prince Rupert again- and by the way the museum in the town is excellent as is the Port Authority exhibition.

Dear Mre Margaret River,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to us. We do always value that. It is unfortunate that your stay at the Prince Rupert Hotel did not match your expectations.

The room types do vary slightly from floor to floor. The end units do sometimes tend to be a bit smaller from a square footage perspective than the others, but not by much. The hotel has undergone some updates this past year and more are scheduled for the interior and exterior. The breakfast is also being upgraded as we speak. It will include a different presentation and a few more hot items.

The pre-authorization on your credit card at check-in is standard policy worldwide as you have noted. When you 'swipe' your card at a terminal that does not accept 'chip' cards, a P.I.N. is not required. However, when the card is a 'chip' card and the terminal accepts 'chip' transactions, a P.I.N. is always required to complete the transaction, even if just a pre-authorization and not an actual debit to the account.

If ever you do return to Prince Rupert and if you are willing to give us a try again, please let us know. We would welcome the opportunity to host you again.

Kind Regards,

Joseph...

This hotel is fine. The room was average, clean but dated. They say upper floors (5 & 6) are better but I was on 4. The breakfast was a nice touch. Also a short walk from the Highliner which makes the trip from the airport easy

Room Tip: Go on the higher floors

Above average facility - especially for its age. Looks like recent renovations, but good clean rooms. I stayed on the 4th floor and found the room to be quiet (extra charge for going higher). I was there during SeaFest which was certainly one of the busiest - and loudest days of the year. All was fine - once I got checked in. Why management would install a new reservation system during that week is beyond me - and beyond their staff's capability. Took quite a while to get checked in, but all's well that ends well.

They have a VERY nice breakfast that comes as part of the room price - makes for excellent value. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance as well. Internet was included and they have a decent cable tv package which made for a very pleasant stay. I did not have a vehicle but parking looked limited. All in all, I would stay there again.
