We stayed here for 2 nights passing through. The place looked a little sketchy when we arrived after dark, but was really OK when we got to know the area a little. There is a bar with loud music on one side of the hotel and the bar appears to share the same parking lot. I didn't see any bad behavior or drunk people though. It seemed to be fairly contained.

The rooms have been partially updated and are clean from what we could see. Dogs were happy and we were glad for some good rest. Views from any room above the 2nd floor are probably pretty good. We were in 201 and could watch the barges coming and going. If you are looking for luxury this is NOT it, but it's a clean place to stay with friendly staff.

Breakfast was very good. For food I suggest going down to Cow Bay. There were a few neat restaurants near the harbour that were good. Cowpachino is a fun little coffee place on the harbour.

The hotel looked bad from the outside and we could not find where to leave our car while we checked in. After driving around the hotel, we found a shoddy, pot-holed, gravel parking area that had no signs saying it was for the Prince Rupert hotel. We only found out this because an employee leaving the hotel said it was the right place. After driving 400 miles that day, you don't need that aggravation. Once inside however, the hotel looked much better. The entry way was actually appealing. The quality of the check in was OK. The room we requested was their"premium" room. It came with a king size bed and a chair, but nothing else to make it really "premium". The room was comfortable but cramped. The following morning we had to leave before 6am to catch the ferry out of town. Apparently this is quite common as others were leaving at that time, but we missed the continental breakfast which stated at 6am. With so many having to leave early, the breakfast should have started sooner.

Hello Lone Ranger Dude,

Thank you for posting a review of the Prince Rupert Hotel. It is unfortunate that your experience did not match your expectations. We strive to provide good quality service. The exterior of the hotel has been partially renovated. Signage is limited as a result.

Due to staffing situations and food waste costs due to leaving food out that early without significant volume of guests, we are not able to offer the full breakfast prior to 06:00. Especially because the ferry does not depart every day. We do offer coffee, tea, muffins and fruit to those guests departing early to catch the ferry.

We hope you will consider the Prince Rupert Hotel the next time you visit.

I can't speak for the rooms that non-pet owners get, but the room we got was run down, dirty, and not updated at all. I appreciate hotels allowing pets, and I understand the need to keep rooms separate for pets, but I don't think it's fair to not keep up the rooms and make them just as nice as the rest of the rooms.

Dear Rebecca,

it is unfortunate that your experience did not match your expectations. Many hotels do allocate pet-friendly rooms to areas that they believe are better suited for pets. Unfortunately, not all pet owners are responsible and often there are situations that require significant time and costs involved to clean rooms allocated as pet-friendly. We hope that you will think of the Prince Rupert Hotel the next time you are visiting Prince Rupert.

We had to stay over night in Prince Rupert so we could board VIA Rail early the following day. The town is a disappointment at best, and this hotel is one of two average places to stay. We did have a good sleep in a quiet room. But other than that, the hotel is nothing to write home about.

Room Tip: Most rooms are about the same

This hotel represents excellent value in a City where hotels are very expensive. The front desk staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Very comfortable rooms. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Prince Rupert, close to shopping, and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th or 6th floor to get a great view of the harbour
