Ranked #5 of 10 Hotels in Prince Rupert
Reviewed 2 November 2013 via mobile

Visited Prince Rupert for a weekend sporting event with the family. The price is right and the rooms are clean and comfy. This is an older hotel with signs of wear and some dated decor, but for an affordable weekend it'll be my choice in future. The hotel is centrally located, with a grocery store next door and other shopping in walking distance. Ordered from the adjoining Greek Restaurant - Theaanne's - to eat in the room, food was good.

Thank-you for your recent review of the Pacific Inn and I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. As in previous responses, we have identified areas that are in need of additional improvement and have since started a large scale renovation project that will certainly enhance the renovations already completed in 2013. Recently my husband, grandson and myself had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for a weekend. I cannot say enough things about our experience here. We arrived to a clean room complete with the microwave and fridge as requested. Our room was quiet, and the housekeeping staff were very diligent in the tidying of our room. The food and service at the Greek restaurant on the ground floor was excellent. And when the power went out knocking our TV out of service, the lovely desk lady came right up to our room not once, but twice to help! Would stay here anytime and hope to next time..Thanks Pacific Inn!!

Room Tip: Very quiet and private on the back side!

We arrived late in the evening after a full day on the BC ferry from Port Hardy. It is just out of the main town but access to the centre is a 10 minute walk. We were given a room on the top floor which was a good size and above any noise from the street. The room was clean and had a fridge and microwave in it but no aircon; a pity as it was hot whilst we were there! There was a problem initially with the shower but this was sorted out immediately. The hotel was slightly tired and some carpets looked rather worn in the public areas but the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is fine and is served from 5 am to 10 am so that people catching the return ferry to Port Hardy can eat before transfer to the port. There is an attached Greek Restaurant in the hotel but we did not try this. Most people only seem to stay for one night as they make use of the ferry or rail. They are missing out as the town is really trying hard to appeal to travellers. Cow Bay has some good restaurants (try Dollys Seafood pasta there) and the Museum and Port Interpretative Centre are both worth visiting. Try taking the bus to the Pacific Cannery to get an insight into the salmon industry. All in all, a good experience.

Seasonedtravellers50,

Thank-you for taking the time in submitting your review of the Pacific Inn. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and that our team provided you with very helpful and friendly service. I do understand that the public area carpet are getting warn and as mentioned in my previous responses, a full public area renovation is set to transpire this winter. This renovation includes all new flooring, lighting, paint scheme's with a new Lobby entrance facade and breakfast room, as well; all new guest room carpet. I enjoyed your comments regarding the city of Prince Rupert as there is so much to see and do here and is impossible to take in within a day's trip. The history, culture and people certainly make Prince Rupert a destination choice, in which; I am pleased you had a good experience. If traveling through Prince Rupert again in the future, I would welcome you back to see the positive changes not only within the Pacific Inn but the city of Prince Rupert as well.

Hall way smells, carpet old and dirty, TV falling off the wall, no screens on windows so could not air the musty smell out of room, staff was friendly, breakfast OK unground parking was nice benefit, convenient to stores. Kind of your typical rundown Prince Rupert establishment. You have to drive over to the sunken gardens. Then redeem Prince Rupert. The weird combination (ie Indian curry-pizza-Greek) restaurants have to be eaten at to be believed

Lance S,

Thank-you for your recent review of the Pacific Inn and I would like to address a few of your concerns that you noted within your review. We take all reviews whether positive or on the negative side very serious and make the necessary adjustments or praise based on our guests responses. I am pleased that you found our team here of the friendly nature and that you enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the underground parking. We do understand that the carpets are in need of replacement and have scheduled that within our full Lobby expansion renovation that is scheduled for the Fall of 2013, in which; has been noted in previous guest reviews. We have also ordered a newer style LCD television wall mount that will only enhance the current televisions. I do hope that you are able to return to Prince Rupert in the future and see the changes in person as I would welcome the opportunity to show you in person.

We arrived early around 6.30am from the ferry terminal and were greeted by a friendly receptionist who advised that a double room was available if we would like to go and freshen up and we were welcome to have some breakfast as well. What a plus! The breakfast was okay and there was a variety of food which should satisfy most people. It was a bit far from Cow Bay but it was easily walkable. I definitely would stay there again.

Our guest room had been recently painted and the bath room was in good condition. Unfortunately the new paint was quite a dark color, so the room seemed gloomy. We opened the curtain to brighten the room and discovered that our view was of a garbage dumpster in the middle of a garbage-strewn vacant lot.

The carpet in our room was not as "fresh" as the paint job.

The room was not air conditioned. I understand that Prince Rupert, B.C. is not a climatic hot spot, but the thermostat on the wall in the room reported 86 degrees, and the humidity was quite high. The desk was kind enough to send someone up with a fan, which was much appreciated. Since there was no screen on the one, opening window, we were reluctant to leave it open for long as we didn't want to supply a delicious meal for the local mosquitoes!

Note to longer-haired people: no hair dryer!

The complimentary, continental, breakfast was very simple: choice of a couple of dry cereals, a lovely collection of bagels and muffins, and toast. A dish of small oranges was available for fruit and there were, of course, coffee, tea, and a couple of fruit juices.

As I mentioned, the desk and breakfast room staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Room Tip: In spite of the awful view, we'd recommend rooms on upper floors (3rd floor seems to be all non...

Thank-you for your recent review as your comments only enhance the service levels that we do our utmost to provide on a consistent basis, thus; providing exceptional service and value to our guests.
