“Great stay in a beautiful part of the world!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We visited Salt Spring Island for a wedding this past weekend. Being from Toronto, I'm always blwon-away by the beauty of west coast. Salt Spring Island is no excpetion to this. We spent the weekend exploring the island, walking around the Saturday market and eating as much as we possibly could. It was a great weekend getaway. As for the Harbour House Hotel, we couldn't have been happier. We had a deluxe room with a great view overlooking the harbour. The bed was very comfortable as well. The rooms are a bit dated but that probably adds to the charm. Also, the restaurant was amazing! we had 1 breakfast and 1 dinner there. Both meals were awesome. All in all, for the price, this is a great place to stay.

We arrived in sweltering heat to no one on the front desk just a note saying "be back in five minutes": We were hot and tired after ridingb a motor bike and decided to stroll around the neighbourhood. The waters edge is across the street and the organic farm which was carefully described by the receptionist sounded like good places to start. However, the farm was locked at 4:00 and it was now 4:30 (please note that check in is at 3:00) and walking along the waters edge was not possible as it was private property with many signs and walking into the village turned out to be along a very busy road. Dinner was OK with a very poor waitress who barely waited on us. The room is clean and comfortable with a very nice balcony facing the water and French doors which cooled the room and made it very pleasant despite the heat. Lost opportunity to really exploit the farm they use for a lot if their food and poor service in the hotel.

Harbour House is a most excellent place to stay, let me count the ways! Location close to Ganges, hotel room with balcony overlooking the ocean, huge organic garden wonderful setting to walk through, and the food is one of the best! Saturday night after a long hike enjoyed cowichan organic chicken and creme bruelle which was divine!

the hotel was ok and the breakfast was fine. we were staying in another building up from the hotel, which made it feel like we weren't in the hotel. we had a baby and there was no room service which was annoying. location was good though and room was fine and clean.

I liked the hotel, but my dinner was not too good. The chowder was full of flour paste globs. When I brought it to the attention of the wait staff, he just said that was not their usual soup. I left most of it. They didn't attempt to replace or compensate.

My bridesmaids and I all really enjoyed getting ready together in the Crofton Room before my wedding last June. It was perfect to have a beautiful and private room with washrooms across the hall and a table set up for us to order in food from the Harbour House Restaurant. It was even wheelchair accessible!

The food was amazing and the staff was very flexible and accommodating. Thanks again!

My hard-working daughter treated me to a night at the Harbour House. We were so disappointed. Yes, the location is handy with a nice view of the harbour if you pay extra for these rooms but having traveled a great deal and considering everything, this hotel is overpriced. The harbour view rooms are on the second floor and there is no elevator. Since I have a bad leg, the climbing up the stairs lugging a suitcase was not easy and was made worse by the hotel employee at the front desk just watching. The place smells nasty and is very dated and poorly appointed. The only friendly staff we met was our server in the restaurant. We did enjoy our breakfast. No backup toilet paper in the bathroom, balconies provide a view but the door is the only source of air for the room. Balcony has 2 plastic chairs and is completely UNprivate! See picture. Would try another spot if I return.
