My wife and I had a magical stay. The room certainly had a great view of the bay, and was spacious and well equipped. But, what made it so special was the area along the beach that is part of the resort. You really do need to take their advice and walk out on the point. Once we discovered this, we spent an incredible hour watching the sun set, enjoyed tide pooling right there around the point, walking down the beach, etc., etc. This would be a tremendous family place too.

The location is wonderful, just steps away from the beach. But unless you pop for the $650/night the property is clearly wanting. The rooms are dated, the bedroom is located right next to the parking lot and stairs so you get all of the traffic noise from other guests. There is no dishwasher or full-length mirror in the room. The first full day that we were there, they forgot to clean our room (there was a wedding going on) so they tied a plastic bag to our doorknob with some coffee attached saying, "We appreciate your need for privacy, please contact the front desk of you need anything." I contacted the front desk and they couldn't have cared less. The bathroom is tiny to say the least and the flapper on the toilet was broken.

For $350/night I expected a little more luxury. Won't plan on staying there again nor will I recommend it to anyone else.

Dear Llamamama1;

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our Resort. I am happy that you enjoyed our one of a kind location and we all agree that it is something we are all very lucky to live next to.
I would like to let you know that we have many different suite types and your suite was our entry level suite with full kitchen and ocean view with a starting rate of??? Per night in high season. We do appreciate your need for privacy and we consider your Do not Disturb sign when hung on the door. We are continually doing upgrades to our suites and amenities and we hope that we can welcome you again in the future.

Sincerely,

Lara Kemps

Stayed in the accommodation for four nights 19th of aug till 22nd. A few problems none of which were the hotels fault, they went out of their way to fix them, the manager was fantastic. The setting on the beach wonderful , the accommodation five star plus, clean spacious everything that you could want and more. Would love to go back.

The resort is located some 7 km outside Tofino, on a beautiful beach. Check-in time is 4 pm, but even arriving there at 5 pm, our room wasn’t ready yet. Please come in about 10 – 15 minutes again and we will make check-in then, they told us. Well, we made a stroll along the beach and made a first contact with the resort. Half an hour later, our room still wasn’t available. They made check-in now, gave us our keys, but asked for another 10 – 15 minutes before getting to the suite. We got two keys, and being three, we asked for another one. Now we got four, but two of them not working, not correctly programmed. We saw housekeeping working and as they left we finally could get into the Lighthouse suite. The suites are very comfortable, one queen size bedroom, full bathroom, well equipped kitchen and a nice living room with a pull-out sofa for our daughter. Gas fireplace was also there. The kitchen had fridge and microwave. He resort has free internet access, but at Reception we were advised that it was rather slow. And in fact it is, desperately slow. I can’t understand that a resort with 350 $ upward rooms has such an old fashioned internet. That has to be improved urgently. The resort has no restaurant; you just can buy some very basic food at reception office (bread, milk, eggs, bacon, yogurt, to prepare them in your kitchen). Nevertheless they offer a breakfast delivery service from one downtown restaurant.

We had a great time in Tofino, had a lot of sun during our five nights there, but the resort and Cox Beach were always foggy. The area is well known for fog, but it lifted elsewhere, not at Cox Beach. So, take your car and drive elsewhere, to enjoy the beautiful beaches and scenery.

As a resume, next time we would select another hotel or resort, due to this higher foggy area and absolutely no relationship between prices asked and service got.

Dear Walter B;

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that your suite was not ready by the time you checked in and please know that we do try our best but even with our very competent housekeeping department sometimes timing is off with late check outs and suites that need that extra attention.
In regards to Internet wireless at the Resort, Internet in Tofino is very slow and we totally agree with you on that. Tofino has very little bandwidth until a fiber optic line is run from the other side of the Island, which I will be here by 2015 however, we have scheduled a Resort wide upgrade to our own wireless network to try and bump up the speed for October 2013.
Our Resort offers the peace and tranquility but does not offer the amenities such as a Restaurant or Lounge which is clearly noted on our website. We are pleased to offer plenty of choices in Guest Reception for convenient ways to provision your suite and are happy to help you with reservations to any of the great restaurants in town, and will even help you with transportation with our own shuttle service.
The west coast of Vancouver Island is a haven for fog in August because the California Current and the North Pacific High keep our coastal waters cold and Fog forms when wind pushes relatively warmer air over a cooler body of water, fog usually burns off around early afternoon and leaves sense of freshness to the air.
I would like to thank you again for providing feedback about our Resort and I hope we can welcome you back again in the future.

Sincerely,

Lara Kemps

Location is amazing you have a rain forest beach, sandy beach on the cox bay!

You have to undestand the concept of this hotel, not ment to have a lot of service, or restaurants.

More of a experience to connect with nature and the people you are going with.

You have a kitchen fully equipped to cook a meal with the ingredients of the region...
There is a BBQ for hotel guest.

They have an awesome yard and volley balls to play.

The front desk service is very efficient.

Arrived from Vancouver to find the Lodge the Holiday Company had not booked us in the Lodge we wanted, it was not available so had booked an alternative. It was sad we felt let down as the Lodge was fantastic, the one we thought we where having had a hot tub. And as there where 5 of us two bedrooms and a pull out bed in the living room. The Manageress was excellent had a bed delivered to the room and set up for me, sent wine and voucher for meal to make up for disappointment.

The Lodge we had you could not fault, loverly kitchen and living area with everything you could need, patio looking out to sea, and BBQ on the grass outside to use. The bedrooms where equally nice the top one having fantastic views of the beach and sea, you could even sit in the bath looking out to sea. There where coats for wet weather to use and towels to use on the beach. Top quality in every way.

We went on trips from here one to Hot Spring Cove on the way we saw 2 pods of Orcas magnificent to see, we went by sea and flew back on a float plane. The other trip was to see bears we went by sea and saw them feeding along the shore. We where luck and also saw sea otters and lads of bald eagles

Room Tip: No restaurant, but plenty of places to eat in Torfino, limited food on sale in the reception, only t...

Stayed here for long weekend back in February. Had a much needed relaxing and romantic weekend with the wife. Stayed in a lighthouse suite, it was perfect. We got a very good rate for the "storm season package", although there were no storms during our stay. Location was good, very private and secluded, but only a 5 minute drive into town. No restaurant on premise, but their main lobby has some frozen food available, but you're better off just driving a couple of minutes and getting takeout from Wildside Grill. Apparently February is off-season and a large number of the restaurants were closed for the season, just something to keep in mind. The hotel does supply a crab pot if you need, so we bought some fresh crab and steamed it ourselves. Free popcorn and hot chocolate (included in our package) was nice when watching movies at night in front of the fireplace. There is a computer in the lobby if you want to check your email, but why would you want to do that when you're trying to relax? Overall, very happy with my stay here. Had a lovely romantic weekend of relaxing and walking on "mile-long beaches", would definitely stay here again if I returned to Tofino. Not sure if I could justify spending twice to stay at Wickaninnish Inn, when the Pacific Sands is already so lovely.
