My wife and I have now been to the Wick' Inn in Tofino a few times. If you want brilliant service and location, a world class restaurant and local scenery to die for, then you will hard pushed to find better. If you can stay in the Canopy Suite. It's not huge, but the view you wake up to is staggering and captivating and the bathroom is glorious and earthy.

Room tip: The Canopy Suite if you can, but make sure you have a Pacific ocean view.

The natural geographic setting of this hotel, especially on a (rare) sunny day is extraordinary...but can be appreciated less expensively at many inns that now dot the Long Beach coastline, some places cheek-to-jowl. It's nice, but nicer can be had less expensively. Not so the restaurant--perched over the pounding surf or the usually angry North Pacific, it is one of the top 5 most spectacular restaurant settings in the world. The food's not quite that good--but close.

We spent two night in a room in the pointe building. The service from when we pulled up in the driveway was exceptional. The staff knew us by name-we were very impressed! Our room was spacious and had a magnificent view overlooking the ocean. The bathroom was a great size and had a beautiful double bath with a view to die for. I treated myself to a massage at the spa, and it was heaven. We ate dinner one night at the Pointe Restaurant, and it was lovely, although pricey. We were made to feel very special! One thing that spoilt our stay was the fact that they took a $1500 authorisation on our credit card upon check in without our knowledge that the amount was that excessive. I understand that most hotels will take an authorisation-but seriously-that much?!?!?!? I also feel that, for the price of the rooms that breakfast should be included in the tariff. Otherwise, our stay was wonderful!

A short note for newlyweds: we did not get any particularly special treatment on our honeymoon at the Wick. This did not bother us until we returned home and friends and family asked what the Wick did for honeymooners, it seems most people would expect some gesture, and we had to admit that we didn't get anything. The hotel is fabulous and the perfect spot to honeymoon, perhaps it is that everyone goes there to celebrate so everyone is sort of equally special. However, at $600 per night in high season I guess other hotels of that caliber would have had a bottle of champagne or flowers or something.
That being said, I wouldn't change anything else, the room was heaven, we ate 3 delicious meals a day at the Driftwood lounge or Pointe restaurant, the location is brilliant, and the two seater tubs with window overlooking the ocean is priceless. I hope we can go back to celebrate our anniversary next year!

Room tip: Definitely splurge on a top floor of the Point building, worth every penny!

This is the most beautiful hotel in the world. Go there during the storm season for a hike along the coast, great surf, spa treatments and great food. It's seriously cold and wet but that makes the fire place and whiskey even better
