Yes, it's remote - no one finds the Wickaninnish Inn accidentally, but the trip through the rainforest (5-6 hours from Victoria) is part of the experience not to be missed. Once at the Inn, the staff couldn't do enough for us, whether it was arranging hikes, making dinner and spa reservations or just getting us oriented. How can one not be impressed with picture windows (from both the bedroom and the bathroom) overlooking the ocean, framed by old-growth trees? Nothing is forgotten: blankets for extending the hours on the balcony, chocolates and bubble bath upon arrival, in-room binoculars for whale watching, the use of personal storm gear and a back pack, a heated bathroom floor, a library including DVDs. You are just steps from the beach, steps from the spa and restaurant. As a bonus, the food in the town of Tofino was suprisingly excellent - at least three supurb restaurants (and a great bakery for breaksfast - try the breakfast pizza (amazing)). The food and drink prices are on the high side, but considering the remote location, that is understandable. I have absolutely no complaints and enthusiastically recommend the "Wick."

Room Tip: Second floor in the "Beach" building is terrific. We were in room 23 which can't be b...

We spent a couple of nights at the "Wick" for or 20th Anniversary. This is a lovely spot right on the beach. The weekend we were there we saw 4 weddings on the beach - luckily it was a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon. It was fun to see the barefoot bridal parties on the beach beside dozens of onlooking surfers.
The rooms are very comfortable with great views. The bathrooms, with huge soaker tubs overlooking the water are wonderful. The beds are extremely comfortable.
We ate at the Pointe Restaurant both nights we were there. The service was excellent the first night and our very tall server was extremely helpful and knowledgable. Our second server the following night paled in comparrison. While the food is very good my husband found the portions a bit on the small side.
The fitness room is adequate for a quick workout with a partial view of the beach.
I was shocked by the high prices of their lattes in their Driftwood cafe so we chose to go to a great spot in Tofino called Rough Beans for coffee and a wonderful breakfast. (Apparently there is a line is out the door in the hight season, as every one loves this place!) We rode into town on the bicycles the hotel provides for free which was really fun and we felt like we had earned our breakfast. SOBO (short for sophisticated Bohemian) is a delightful spot for lunch after whale watching. We went with Ocean Outfitters which the concierge at the Wick booked for us.
Before we went I had a difficult time choosing whether to stay here or at the Long Beach Lodge, so we checked out a couple of other hotels while were were in Tofino including the Long Beach Lodge and the Middle Beach lodge. Given the big price difference I think I would stay at the Long Beach lodge next time (Their menu looked great) but it was a nice splurge to stay at the Wick for our anniversary.

My husband and I have very blessed and have been able to travel to some fantastic places through the years. I normally do not write reviews, but I have to give credit where credit is due. The Wickaninnish Inn is a fabulous inn with amazing views, spa (tried the yoga class and a facial-wonderful!) and food. You will fall love with location and all of it's beauty. However, what really impressed me was the staff. My husband left one of his suitcases in our rental car and we didn't discover this until we landed in Vancouver for the second leg of our trip. It was late the afternoon and the beginning of the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend(aka: busy time for the inn's check ins/arrivals). We had taken the last flight of the day and the rental car company had closed for the day. The concierge, Jason, personally drove to the airport to check our locked rental car for the bag and continually persisted in locating the rental agency's manager (who had gone home for the night. He also worked with the airline, and our hotel in Vancouver for a seamless delivery. He also continually called us out of concern to reassure us and to make sure the bag was delivered. We cannot thank him enough for taking a disastrous situation and making it a success. I also would love to thank Jens. He was incredible to me after I experienced an injury post hiking. It can be very scary being injured away in a foreign country. Jens not only got me whatever I needed to deal with my injury, he also truly was concerned about my well being. Thank you again Jason and Jens!

Room Tip: Loved the Chesterman Beach Suites and appreciated having the extra room, bigger balcony and the gorg...

We spent two nights at the Wickaninnish Inn the last week in September. It was everything we hoped it would be after the long haul in getting there. The staff was very friendly the room cozy comfortable and a view to die for. You can sit in the tub and look at the ocean. We were provided with a blanket and a back pack for hikes, and binoculars to whale watch. The Pointe restaurant was to say the least one of the best meals we have ever had on vacation. Flavors exploded in your mouth with every satisfying bite. The woods on the grounds are beautiful the beach is expansive and the town of Tofino charming. Worth the trip cannot wait to go back. Bring some of their homemade Jam for gifts. Walk on the beach in late afternoon and you can see starfish.

Room Tip: If you can get a ocean view it is worth every penny.

We treated ourselves to a long weekend and had a room perched over surf crashing onto the rocks below. Spectacular! The rooms are luxe yet not pretentious. Service is friendly and discrete. Our big surprise was the restaurant. Every bite ...of everything...was sublime.
We'll certainly make time to return for some R & R. Beautiful setting, perfect rooms, lovely experience all around.

My wife and I have now been to the Wick' Inn in Tofino a few times. If you want brilliant service and location, a world class restaurant and local scenery to die for, then you will hard pushed to find better. If you can stay in the Canopy Suite. It's not huge, but the view you wake up to is staggering and captivating and the bathroom is glorious and earthy.

Room Tip: The Canopy Suite if you can, but make sure you have a Pacific ocean view.

The natural geographic setting of this hotel, especially on a (rare) sunny day is extraordinary...but can be appreciated less expensively at many inns that now dot the Long Beach coastline, some places cheek-to-jowl. It's nice, but nicer can be had less expensively. Not so the restaurant--perched over the pounding surf or the usually angry North Pacific, it is one of the top 5 most spectacular restaurant settings in the world. The food's not quite that good--but close.
