“Surf's Up”
Reviewed 21 August 2012

We spent 2 nights at the Long Beach resort in Tofino and had a great stay. We arrived a little early our first day and had to wait to get into our reserved room- check in is at 4pm. The first night we enjoyed a fantastic meal in the Great Room which was well served and presented. Each morning we had the complimentary breakfast in the great room which consisted of fruit, various breads, granola, yogurt, pastries and coffee and numerous teas.
All the staff at this resort are very accommodating especially the staff in the surf shop. I had my 10year old niece with us and she really wanted to surf and we had not booked a time so I went to the shop and checked into having a lesson, I was told they were fully booked but that they would call some of their part time guys to see if anyone would be interested. Within 1/2hr I was called back and Chris our instructor was able to take us that afternoon. Chris was a great teacher and my niece had a blast- even my wife and I were able to enjoy the surfing, challenging as it was. That evening we spent 3hrs on the open water searching for whales and other animals with Jamie's Whale Watching. This was a lot of fun and the zodiac option was the way to go for the thrill seeker in all of us. We did see a few Grey Whales, many seals, some otters and various birds but were not able to find Orca's.
Tofino is a small town that is very laid back, surfers abound and the options for accommodations and meals are quite bountiful- I would suggest the Long Beach resort because of the beach, surfing and staff however they are many options closer to town.
It was a full moon the last night we were there and upon departing a pizza place we were told to "have a happy full moon day, man"- like I said a little laid back and a great vibe.

We had a wonderful stay at LBLR, and highly recommend it. We stayed in the main part of the hotel and had a view of the beach - we enjoyed having the doors open at night so that we could hear the sea. We hadn't intended to eat in every night but the food was so good that we decided to make the most of the restaurant. And it doesn't hurt to be able to see a whale whilst you're having your dinner. We found the staff very friendly and helpful with tips for what to do during our stay.

We went back to the Long Beach Lodge on the incomparable beach at Cox Bay last week and had another fabulous holiday. A particular highlight was our two superb dinners in the Great Room and we especially commend the sushi! It is just such a relaxing environment overall, our favorite place for an escape, so we will go back as often as we can. The staff does a great job and we have nothing to put in the "needs improvement" column.

For the last 7 years and at least 3 times a year we have been going to Long Beach Lodge resort. Every stay is special and its always an absolute pleasure in every sense of the word. It doesn't matter whether you go for a special occasion or just go to relax you are made to feel welcome and special. All the staff are excellent and very attentive, the food is excellent and the rooms are beautiful. The pet rooms are just as nice as the deluxe rooms and even your dog is made to feel special with bones, their own towels and bowls!
We will continue to go Long Beach and we are already looking forward to our fall trip and some storm watching. And we also plan on spending our first Christmas there this year.
I highly recommend it and I know you anyone going will enjoy your stay!

Room Tip: They are all excellent well appointed rooms!

Were staying in a private cabin with 2 adults and 2 children. The place has everything......but swimming facilities. The sea is (of course) too cold and dangerous, so a swimming pool would definitely be an important to be added asset. We didn't use the jacuzzi's, to us they were only filling up the private little backyard of our cabin.

Tofono is touristy (of course) but nice. Beware that dining options in Tofino are limited. Make advance reservations if you want to have choice and eat proper and affordable food.

We stayed two nights in the hotel. The first night we got room 218 next to the restaurant and a storage room for staff. We requested another room as we were traveling with our young daughter and we expected quiet some noose. We count not get another room as the hotel was fully booked that night. Our expectation was right it was a noisy room and we asked for another room the next day which we got. The second night in room 217 was much better/quieter.
Staff was friendly and rooms are really nice. If you can afford you should take a room with ocean view, it is money well spend I believe. We eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant. Quality was really good but little expensive. But thst is the price you pay for being in this adorable location.

This hotel has a fabulous location - although it's actually on Cox Bay not Long Beach which is slightly misleading. We stayed in one of the cottages, with two bedrooms, which was great as it had a kitchen so we didn't have to eat in the good but expensive restaurant every night. The facilities are very good - inc the surf school which was excellent. The only negative was that the cottages are deep in the woods with no views but that didn't really matter. Very friendly helpful staff.
