“Long Beach Lodge long on wonderful.”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

We spent the May long weekend at Long Beach Lodge and would highly recommend it, food food, good service, rooms are lovely and the beach is spectacular. We walked down to the Wickininnish for brunch one morning which was a lovely 8K there and back. Tofino townsite isn't more than 15 minutes from hotel and has wonderful quaint restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: The cabins can sleep up to 8 people in two separate bedrooms and are in the forest. Lodge rooms eit...

I am delighted you enjoyed your visit, thank you for your review. Another great activity is renting bikes and riding into town. There is a wonderful bike and walking path, that starts at the lodge and goes right into town. We can arrange for great rental bikes to be delivered to you at the lodge.

The folks at Long Beach Lodge turned our spontaneously-arranged elopement into a romantic event that we'll remember for the rest of our lives. The resort's event coordinator took care of every detail, starting with the Marriage Commissioner and the witnesses. A linen-covered signing table was waiting for us out on the beach where we were married 50 meters from the surf, with vows that were fine tuned in a meeting with the Commissioner only a few hours before. We returned to our suite to find champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for us. No detail was left untended. The elopement package included a fine dinner in the Great Room overlooking the ocean with a two-tier wedding cake. Returning again to our suite, we found rose petals strewn about, capping a hugely romantic experience. The suite itself was immaculate, with a stunning view of the ocean and every amenity provided. The best part was an exceptionally friendly staff who greeted us cheerfully at every encounter right down to the guy with the leaf blower cleaning the parking lot. All of this was arranged with one phone call three weeks ahead of our marriage and a few details added when we met with the event coordinator on arrival. Best of all, the price was significantly cheaper than the next-best package in the same area. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We took the Penthouse which is beautifully appointed with a four-poster bed and fabulous ocean views...

We stayed for a week with my family and a dog in one of the rainforest cottages. We love the accommodations and the LBL hospitality.
My dog and sun had a blast catching the waves and playing in the sand on the beach.
Beautiful nature and so much to explore.Easy bike ride to Tofino for a treat or a coffee.
The only downside was the breakfast.I have stayed few times here before and the best start to the day was the breakfast buffet/amazing choices and food.
It was a big part of the experience sitting in the morning in the great room with delicious baking and coffee .I have bought coffee couple of times prior walking on the beach with my dog ,but $$$ for a morning java is a bit expensive ,plus feeding my family for breakfast with coffee and yogurt and bakings would come to about $50 a day.I wish they could bring it back, the set up is still there…
We will return despite missing on the great room experience, but have to account for this and bring our new Nespresso machine..

Room Tip: All the rooms and cottages are awesome.

Thank you for your review, I am delighted that you enjoyed your visit. The cottages are perfect for families and pets! Dogs just love the ability to run free on the sandy beach,

The decision to discontinue the buffet was only taken after a lot of consideration. Please read my comments below in response to "A VIEW TO DIE FOR." I give a detailed account as to why the decision was taken.

We will look forward to your next visit.

We had a very good experience. The lodge staff was excellent, fast , prepared and helpful . The food and wait staff are great (KYLE, PAUL and others) , we had surf lessons with ROBIN! and felt well taken care of and not rushed at all. The beach is fantastic and not crowded. Many seating areas outside. There is a hot tub and sauna, the cleanest and best change/shower rooms you will ever see with lockers. All items you need are on site, see LOU at the surf shop ... very sweet, after our lesson the photos of us were on the TV in the shop. There are games and movies in the lobby you can take to your room
Overall it was a great all in one experience, I would go there again.
Bottom line.... $1061.00 for three days in a room with private surf lesson and 100.00 in free dining. That includes the wetsuit and surfboard. Will go back again, did not really want to leave.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms lead right out to beach, second floor rooms would have the view of the beach. Kee...

Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to review us. I am very glad you enjoyed the whole LBLR experience. Our surf instructors are the great and our Surf Club and facilities are second to none, on the west coast of North America. We have taken the surf experience to a whole new level!

We look forward to your next visit as a return guest.

We stayed for two nights in May 2014. Ive been lucky enough to have travelled quite a bit and stayed in some top hotels, but This is simply one of the best hotels we've stayed in. The accomodation was fantastic, our room was spacious, well equipped, clean and had a beautiful sea view.
The staff were all really helpful and friendly, they made you feel like nothing was too much trouble and they made every effort to make sure you were happy and well looked after. The staff at this hotel are what made our stay at the lodge so great! (Especially our waiter Kyle, who we felt made an extra effort).

We enjoyed breakfast and dinner and the lodge on both days. The food is delicious!!

The facilities at the lodge include surf board / wetsuit hire which we made use of. The staff were again super friendly and helpful. This was our first experience of surfing and we loved it!
They also offer surf lessons and boating sightseeing trips, which unfortunately we didn't have time to do.

I think what impressed me most about this lodge was the feeling of being in luxury accommodation / surroundings, but with a very relaxed and casual vibe/feeling. The staff were fantastic and the location is just the best!
I had so much fun on this trip and this really did make our trip a one to remember!

We will definitely be back! If your thinking of booking up, do it!!
Thanks

Jonathan (Newcastle, UK)

Thank you for your detailed review, we are honoured to be included in in your top picks for hotels you that have visited. I am delighted that your enjoyed your time with us.. Many guests comment that while it is a given that the location and resort are beautiful, it is the helpful and friendly staff that keeps them returning. I am glad also that you enjoyed the surf club and surfing.

We will look forward to your next visit.

This is our 5th stay at Long Beach Lodge, and still love coming here. The staff is very accommodating, and friendly. I could sit and watch the world go by in the Great Room, and love to see the surfer's head out for the day. My only disappointment….they have discontinued the buffet breakfast. Please bring it back, and just charge me for it…and not for weekends only. We would love to return again next year, but the breakfast issue really bothers me. I hate changes!!! Room Tip: Top floor for the views….unless you have a pet(ground floor)

Thank you for your feedback, I am delighted you enjoyed your 5th visit to the Lodge.

The decision to discontinue the buffet breakfast had been considered for several years and the change was not taken lightly. There were a number of considerations, there was tremendous waste each day as the buffet had to look full every day to the very last guest. Once food is added to a buffet, it is considered contaminated and cannot be reused, this became even a bigger issue when we improved the buffet and added protein. No matter how we improved the offerings, we could not satisfy our European guests, which make up a large proportion of our visitors. Also, we wanted to improve the menu and add better quality, even the coffee was greatly improved. We wanted to add more options, full table service, or the "grab and go option"

The cost of running a resort, to the high standard that guests now expect, is a very costly operation. Wages and cost of supplies are continually increasing, utilities, insurance and taxes are also huge costs. Maintenance costs and upgrades are another $500,000 annually.
The buffet, in the end, was costing the company $500,000 annually and rather then increase room rates we believed if would be wiser to end the buffet, all things considered.

Maybe more detail than you needed, but as a regular guest, I would like you to have all the information.

We stayed for 3 nights May 11,12,13 2014.
We had a very nice ground floor ocean side room.

The main thin is that the staff is wonderful. They were very thoughtful and helpful.
We felt that Monica in the great room went out of her way to accommodate us. She seemed to know what my wife needed.

We very much enjoyed watching gthe surfers (something our son did 50 yrs ago.
