“Gorgeous views”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We didn't stay here (we had reserved through a third party web site but there was a mix up- the hotel was very good at finding us alternatives at the Wickanninish) but from what I saw it is absolutely gorgeous. I didn't see any of the rooms but I did see the lounge/restaurant that has a full frontal view of the ocean with a balcony. I also walked down to the beach and their outdoor cafe. Also a plus is the on-site surf and wet suit rentals so you don't have to lug the stuff in your car. The cottages are in the rear so if you want an ocean view you'll have to book a hotel room- looks like the second and third floors with balconies are the best rooms. We loved the Wickanninnish but I think if you're traveling with a family this is may be a better alternative- not only far less expensive but also the on-site rentals make it a lot easier. From what I can tell from the pictures the rooms seem maybe a little less luxurious than the Wick (don't know if the Long Beach has heated floors in the bathroom for example) but other than that I don't think you lose much going with Long Beach, and at a much lower cost. We also had dinner in the restaurant and both the food and the service was fabulous. The waitstaff are extremely professional and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the restaurant.

Thank you for your review, I am very sorry that we were not able to accommodate you, but happy we could find you a room at the Wickaninnish Inn. The Wick is another great property and the only other true hotel in Tofino. I hope you will choose us again on your next visit to Canada's real west coast.

Some places sound amazing but fail to deliver. Longbeach is such a place. We felt hounded (to purchase more) at the dinner table to the point where we were constantly interrupted, we were disappointed by the lack of a genuine communal space to relax in other than the restaurant (see above), there was no entertainment, no soul, a tick in the box gym, jacuzzi and sauna (eg back of the hotel facilities); and this left us feeling that Longbeach is over hyped.

Sometimes though, it's the small details that leave the greatest impression. Ours was being asked our room number when borrowing a DVD in case Longbeach should need to charge us for damage. When you are paying $300+ per night for a room this seems an excessively uptight approach.

We experienced a number of little scenarios like this; and so our lasting impression of Longbeach is that the staff and management could work harder to build a friendly and relaxed rapport with their guests to compensate the lack of atmosphere and facilities.

We would not recommend Longbeach for these reasons, even though we recognise it's location is virtually second to none.

This is a fairly new lodge and they gave me a 40% discount as a single traveler and that included a very nice breakfast as well. This lodge is right on Cox Bay and is a 15 to 20 minute drive to Tofino.

I flew to Nanaimo and drove from there, about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive. I believe there is a small airport in the Tofino area though.

My room was very modern and clean, was a corner room on the second floor, and had a balcony that opened and looked right onto the beach. I had a king sized bed, fireplace and sitting/reading area, and a bathroom that had a shower, sink, toilet, and jacuzzi tub.

Full dining services are offered on their second floor and the dining room has gorgeous views of the beach. Prices are average+.

This lodge also facilitates various activities from their front desk.

Staff were very pleasant, especially one young man in the dining room. He was from Victoria and had come to Tofino to work and surf. I found out that he had played quite a bit of hockey and since I am a big hockey fan, we kind of hit it off and always found something to talk about.

The only reason I give this lodge 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because their wifi connection is slow at best:(((

Room Tip: Rooms on the second and third level facing the beach are best, especially corner suites. Mind you, I...

Thank you for your review, we will be offering the singles package again this fall. We are the only hotel that makes this exceptional offer, as we believe that single guests should not have to pay the same rate as two guests travelling together. The spotty WiFi, unfortunately is something we do not control, the current service in Tofino is not good. The good news is that Telus will be providing high speed WiFi service to the area, with-in the next 2 years. I hope you will visit us again soon.

Booked this resort from overseas to attend a family wedding scheduled at the resort for 3.15pm. Having booked for the night of the wedding, we arrived at the LBL at lunch time to be told we would not be able to get into the cabin we had booked until 4 pm. Ended up having to change in another relatives unit for the wedding, as did my daughter, as her room was also not ready until 4 pm. My aged relatives were also told this the day before after an extremely long trip from overseas with nowhere else to go. This occurred after having booked several months prior using a reference to the event, which staff were fully aware was on at their resort. All the staff could advise on arrival was that they always recommend two night's stay for a wedding, which was never advised to us, and also at the price makes it extremely costly. On arriving at reception to collect the key between wedding ceremony and reception were told by staff that they did try to contact us at the relatives unit (while we were attending the wedding ceremony at their own resort!) Ridiculous. So don't be caught out if you are attending a function at this resort! This total inflexibility made it very difficult to enjoy the facilities which I had been looking forward to for months. I will comment that the young barman at the reception was excellent.

How was the wedding, I hope you had a great time. If you had checked your reservation confirmation, which was send to you at the time your booked, you would have noticed that it states clearly that check in time is 4pm. This is standard for all hotels. We make every effort to accommodate guests, however then the hotel is full this becomes impossible to have all rooms ready earlier. The fact that you booked three months prior to your arrival, unfortunately has no bearing on the check in time.

Thank you for your review, I am delighted that you had a wonderful family holiday. Surfing has become hugely popular on our beach, with many guests taking lessons with our surf school, having never surfed before. We will look forward to your next visit.

Our family of five had plenty of room in the incredibly spacious cottage. We loved having the option of cooking our own food or dining in the restaurant. The kids learned to surf, we did the boat tour and of course played on the beach. The games, movies and beach toys to borrow were an added bonus! We had a marvellous vacation!

The Resort is spread over a large area and caters for just about everybody. We had booked a room in the main hotel and arriving early it was not ready. However, the receptionist contacted housekeeping to give it priority and by the time we had eaten lunch it was ready.

The room was large with great views across the ocean and a good sized bathroom with shutters giving views across the room and out to sea.

The hotel is a hot spot for surfers and although not participating ourselves it was fun to watch the more energetic indulge.

It also benefits from an on-site laundry which we made use of but, although it didn’t affect us, it was disappointing to find two of the three washing machines out of action.

Food in the restaurant was good with the advantage of looking out over the sea and the bar and other staff were all friendly and helpful..
