Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. Only minus was poor wireless but that's not really why you come to a place like this! Food was really good and service excellent. Views over the bay from the restaurant are hard to describe and if you want to surf you are probably close to your perfect location. Highly recommended

Thank you for your review, I am glad that you had a nice visit. The WiFi is presently an issue, not always reliable. Telus is bringing high speed internet to Tofino and the west coast, in the near future.

By booking a penthouse suite, we were thinking that... we would actually get a REAL penthouse suite, not just a corner room!! At more than $700 the night, that was a hard pill to digest!
Food at the restaurant is excellent. However, there is a complete lack of coordination between the kitchen and the waiters. The service is terrible! At dinner, the waiter let some plates fall down, picked up my menu after we ordered but he completely forgot to pick-up my guest's menu. At breakfast, we ordered 2 Lattes, an orange juice, eggs, toasts, etc... but our meal came but our Lattes and orange juice were no where to be seen. As we were almost done with our meal, we asked WHEN we would finally receive our coffees and orange juice (which should have been served BEFORE our meal) and we got the most incredible answer from our waitress: the bar woman was alone and too busy with a big order of a table of 6 who asked for smoothies!!!! Also, all the tables around us got glasses of water but not us. Our waitress said that it was not her fault and that she was depending on the speed of the bar woman. Unreal. No excuses, no gestures to discount our bill either. As said, the service is terrible, done by a bunch of kids who have no idea how to serve and just have one purpose of being there: enjoying the outdoors on their time off. It was especially disappointing to us as we were there to celebrate a milestone birthday. We will never ever go back to the Long Beach Lodge Resort.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

Wow are room was wonderful, we stayed on the first floor and could walk right out at ground level to enjoy the beautiful ocean view. We enjoyed sitting outside our room watching the sunset and hearing the ocean roar. We could watch the surfers and walk along the great beach area. We were impressed by the soft sand, the waves and stunning views. Our room was well equipped with coffee, tea, nice wine glasses, tumbler glasses and very nice toiletries. Another nice touch were the two comfortable chairs, warm throw and three great books to read about local plants and wildlife. The adirondack chairs right outside our room were perfect for watching the sunsets. Definitely will stay again.

Room Tip: Book early and make sure you get an ocean view room.

My family stayed at LBL for the second year in a row & we were not disappointed. The location is specatular - right on Cox Bay - & the resprt has aded a new beachside snack bar since last year that we enjoyed late afternoons. Again, we took surfing lessons, which was fun. The hotel concierge helped us arrange a number of excursions, including whale watching and a 6 hour kayak tour. Staff was also helpful recommending restaurants (So-bo is the best restaurant that we ate at this trip; Tacofino is fun for lunch). The food at LBL is good, but not great. Breakfasts are very nice. Our son loves this beach & spending time "surfing" on his boogie board. It's easy for kids at this hotel, as we were able to rent a wet suit & lots of other gear to keep him happy & engaged. There is free wi-fi here, but its really sketchy - this is not a place to go to if you like or need to spend time on-line.

We stayed over the August long weekend, and on our second to last day the cleaning staff never quite made it to our room, even though we were out all day. This was a significant disappointment, and the only reason we were given was that it was a busy day for the cleaning staff on that particular day. Fairly unacceptable to my mind considering the rates at this hotel.

Overall, a nice resort, with exceptional customer service in a beautiful location.

That you for your review, I am glad you enjoyed your visit. I am sorry that your room was not attended to on your second to last night; this was an oversight by house keeping. I will speak to the supervisor.

Gorgeous setting on Cox bay, close to surf, with good facilities for surfers. Top shelf pricing with some Super 8 expectation level accomodation (sorry Super 8). When we arrived the windows to our room were wide open, letting in a slight breeze- but not enough to abate the heat. The kitchen on the floor below also must have been very warm as their windows were open as well, leaving us feeling as though we were attempting to sleep in the kitchen. They were working very hard that night washing dishes very late, and opening the fridges and freezers constantly. We planned to get up fairly early to surf, and didnt even need to set an alarm as we were blasted out of bed at 6:45 am by a delivery truck setting its airbrakes under our window. Must have been a delivery for that ever busy kitchen then making morning smoothies under our window. We made a point of mentioning this to the front desk staff, and they did apologize, but did nothing to soothe us into writing a moderated review. I am sure that there nice rooms at this hotel, but 302 is not one of them, and I suspect anywhere else facing the driveway side of the building is not much better. Stay somewhere less expensive that wont leave you seething, or spend even more and stay on the water side.

Room Tip: Do not stay in room 302 and avoid street side of building.

Room 302 is not above the kitchen, i am not sure how it would be possible to hear any noise from the kitchen.

21 family members descended on Long Beach Lodge Resort to celebrate our parents 60th wedding anniversary and left 3 days latter with the property exceeding our expectations in every dimension. From the personal, caring and friendly service during the pre-planning process, at the front desk, in the restaurant and in housekeeping, to the outstanding facilities, well appointed rooms and incredibly warm environment; all was outstanding. We also took advantage of some of the great activities the resort has to offer, including surf lessons and a boat charter. Again, the service was excellent and the experience memorable. Finally, the restaurant is excellent as well. I highly recommend the Long Beach Lodge Resort.

Room Tip: The cabins are very nice but none face the water. The Deluxe Waterfront rooms on the 1st floor have...

After much research, my husband decided on Long Beach Lodge Resort in Tolfino to celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary. Our experience is one overflowing with special memories!

Our family of seven had a fabulous week at the Long Beach Resort Lodge and in alluring Tolfino; not a one of us wanted to return home. The Lodge's setting on Long Beach is ruggedly beautiful, amazing, ever-changing, awe-inspiring, engaging - helping our family create memories for a lifetime. We loved our accommodations, Cottages 1 and 2 - so close to the lodge and literally steps from the beach. Our daughter, her husband and our two grandchildren, ages 8 and 7, stayed in Cottage 1 and we, along with our son, stayed in Cottage 2. We appreciated having the two cottages next to each other, each with one bedroom and full bath downstairs and one bedroom with full bath upstairs. The cottages were comfortably furnished and filled with amenities: the completely stocked kitchenette with the 4 burner electric stove-oven combo, dishwasher, refrigerator, (the complimentary coffee, tea and CREAM!), the gas fireplace, the rain gear for four, the sleep-inducing beds and choice of pillows, the variety of toiletries in the bathroom equipped with both a bath tub and a separate shower and the hot tub outside Cottage 2. It was heaven to return from hiking, enjoying the beach and outdoors, whale/bear/sea otter/seal/eagle watching, fishing, surfing, relaxing and/or exploring to find our rooms cleaned, beds freshly made and new towels and wash cloths in the bathrooms. Whenever I had a question or needed a service, the response was immediate and gracious. The meals in the Lodge were delicious and enhanced by the quality and variety of the food choices and preparation, the service and of course, the outstanding view. I loved the granola and was so pleased when I requested and received the recipe. Each of the staff was helpful, enthusiastic and seemed truly happy to be there. There is a wonderful barbecue area for grilling, a laundry room, a coffee bar/gift shop, surf lessons/equipment area - all midway between the beach and the entrance. The onsite restaurant in the lodge and its bar/grill beach side are recommended. We can't wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: I especially enjoyed our proximity to the lodge and the beach in Cottages 1 and 2. Rooms with balco...
