This is a lodge consisting of 5 rooms on the top floor of a building with a native gift shop and restaurant on the ground floor. There are 3 rooms with large balconies facing the back overlooking the ocean. We stayed in room #2. The room was large and spacious with great views of the ocean, government dock and mountains, even viewable from the 2 queen size beds. The room was spotless and had a well equipped little kitchenette.
Our first evening we sat on the balcony and watched seaplanes land and take off and even saw a Bald eagle, flying by, with a fish dangling from it's talons. The staff were kind and helpful.
The hotel was right in town and we could walk to all shops and activities.

Room Tip: Ask for room #1,2,or 3, these rooms overlook the ocean and have spacious balconies, at least one or...

We spent 2 nights at The House of Himwitsa. We opted for room no. 2 without spa. It was a very spacious room with 2 queen beds and kitchenette facility. The view from the room was just magnificent! You could see the water and the mountain from the bed. You could also enjoy sunset from the balcony. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you don't care about jacuzzi bath, room 2 is more than sufficient.

Stayed 3 nights and found the rooms beautiful, scrupulously clean, and comfortable. Really enjoyed the private hot tub on our deck overlooking the scenic wharf and ocean. The kitchenette came in handy for breakfasts and suppers on the deck. Will come again.

Room Tip: Suite 1 overlooks the ocean and is very private.

We stayed in the House of Himwitsa for three days. The hotel is within walking distant of everything in the town and just a block from a beautiful path through the woods to one of the beaches. The room sits on the edge of the water overlooking the public dock and sea planes so there was something to watch all the time. if you were finished your outdoor exploring you could come home to a view and lots of action in the harbour.
The only problem was that the room was very clean when we arrived and it was serviced the first day but the staff forgot us the second day so we had to ask for clean towels and room make up.
I will be back again to enjoy the view.

The drive to Tofino from Cobble Hill was absolutely amazing. There was lots of snow on the ground so it was a somewhat slow trip as we drunk in the stunning scenery.

We arrived in Tofino mid afternoon and were easily able to locate the “House of Himwitsa” despite not bothering to check its address. For those West Australian readers amongst you Tofino is quite similar to Margaret River. We visited early in the season so the town wasn’t too overrun with people.

Its central location was our prime motivation in booking and it didn’t disappoint. We were able to park our car (designated guest parking) and walk easily about town. A fabulous gift shop is located on one side of the building, a restaurant on the other (we didn’t try it out as the reviews were not good) and the rooms are situated overhead. Be prepared to carry your luggage up a single flight of stairs.

Room is somewhat of an under exaggeration – these are more like suites with a fully equipped kitchenette, two double beds with a combined lounge area and bathroom with bath. There is a large balcony with sun loungers and a huge steaming hot tub! The room was warm, cozy, somewhat old fashioned and decorated with First Nation art.

The only negatives are that the sink is way, way too small to wash up properly and the standard of crockery, cutlery and other utensils is quite poor. Despite having bought along food for breakfast during our stay we chose to eat out the second morning rather than do battle with the sink and small working area.

It rained, no, it bucketed down during the majority of our stay but we were quite content to lounge around in our room and relax. A glass or two of bubbles in the hot tub whilst overlooking the bay was just wonderful. Part of the tub is undercover so your drink does not dilute!

We enjoyed an evening meal at “The Schooner” – innovative use of local produce, and the pizza nearby our lodgings, although expensive was really good. I do think they deliver if you don’t feel like getting out of the hot tub! We also recommend the Rhino coffee shop for a light tasty breakfast and good coffee.

My grandmother and I had planned to visit Tofino for years; I flew to Victoria from Medicine Hat, AB and we finally took the drive to Tofino. I did a lot of research about what I wanted to see and where I wanted to stay once we got there, I was NOT disappointed with my choice. The owners and staff were amazing, the room was spotless and I spent more time in the giftstore than I intended. We were there in the off season but House of Himwitsa was so centrally located that we could walk wherever we needed to go. We had one of the rooms with a hot tub on the balcony and we spent our evenings visiting and relaxing in the hot tub with a glass of wine. We are planning a return trip and will definitely check for a room here first. Thank you so much for contributing to making our granddaughter/grandmother trip an amazing experience to remember.

We had a lovely stay at Himwitsa, the room (well, apartment really) was fantastic, with a large balcony overlooking the water - in fact for the first time in our holiday we came 'home' mid afternoon because it was such a lovely place to relax and there was always something interesting to look at and such beautiful views. Our hosts were very helpful with local information, which company to go whale watching with, where to eat, where to see bears safely - we took all their suggestions and every one was a winner. Highly recommended.
