Great value compared to the other high priced options. My partner and I stayed here in a private room. There were many other private rooms which was great - uncommon for a hostel. Very very cleAn with great common area overlooking the ocean. Staff were very helpful. The only drag was a very small parking lot ... Had to double park and give staff your keys but in the ed, they had a good system and a very minor inconvenience. Was a little noisey the first night but I think that would be avoided with a diffrent room. See room suggestion below. Lots of diversity in other guests which was nice - lots of families, young people, older people, solo travelers, etc.

Overall, great value and very clean. Would stay again.

Room Tip: If you select a private room, I would advise to not select room M. It was beside the washrooms and above the patio so quite loud at night. I think any of the other private roos would be better. Otherwise, room was very clean- no frills but all you need for tofu o and great value compared to other options,

I stayed two nights in Whalers and it's been a while that I haven't sleep that good !

The bunk bed are made in hard wood, which make them completly silent when somebody goes up or down. The matress and sheets are very comfy as well, and you can't hear any noise from outside.

We shared a very big washroom with another dorm and, for my opinion, one washroom for 10 it's not really enough, specially in the morning, but i don't complain because i liked the fact that the bathroom was so big.

The dining room is nice and the coach (for tea or reading) are very comfy, but the kitchen is also a little bit small during « rush hours ».

Everything is also very clean.

Nice view from the dining room, nice girls at the front desk to explain you the best places to go, see the sunset etc..
A nice place to stay in nice surroundings

This place has a fabulous view, great clean facilities and friendly people. But in July it is super busy - especially in the kitchen and often at the front desk. The waiting was well worth it though!

Room Tip: Some rooms have amazing views - so ask when you book.

This waterfront hostel in the village of Tofino on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada could qualify to be featured in Architectural Digest. It is that beautiful in construction. It is an official Hostel International facility but above the norm in quality. It is all that it proclaims in the description. Waterfront, excellent well-equipped kitchen with granite counters, wet sauna, laundry, popular common rooms, storage facilities, helpful staff, well thought out and everything clean. Stay at least 3 nights. You could well enjoy a week or longer here. My 4-bed women's dorm room had a waterfront view of Clayoquot Sound dotted with islands and was spacious, with comfortable beds all made up. Check with the hostel for discounts on excursions. We didn't and paid more. Tofino Water Taxi is located on the pier in front of the hostel. It is an easy walk to local beaches. The area is famous for surfing, hiking, seeing wildlife, old-growth trees, hot springs up the coast. Book ahead. It was full even in May.

Room Tip: Book ahead. Usually full. Doubt there are any bad rooms.

I absolutely loved my stay here. My first advice would be to book ahead with lots of advance notice. I didn't do this (despite having been warned to do so by other travelers) and called about 4 or 5 days before hand. This meant we had to stay in a dorm the first night and a private room the 2nd... but no big deal, we were just thankful they had SOME room. When we swapped rooms, housekeeping were still in the private room sorting it, but they were more than happy for us to put our bags in there and go out for the day.

The kitchen was good, well equipped which made cooking evening meals easy. Eating out in Tofino was incredibly expensive, so the kitchen, combined with the supermarket about a 5 minute walk away was a god send. The dining room has massive windows that overlook the water, and it's so pretty to sit eating dinner watching the sun set.

The location is great, as mentioned, there's a supermarket near by, plus it's within walking distance from the bus stop and the town.
