Owner description: Considered by many to be one of the best boardwalk hikes around, you will be immersed in the natural serenity of the temperate rainforest. You can take the easy stairs to the beach, where you can gaze at the gentle waves crashing in. During low tide, an inviting passage presents itself so you can make your way to a small island where you may find bald eagles soaring above. Schooners Cove is nothing less than invigorating and rejuvinating. Truly a picturesque adventure.

It is closer to the north end of the park. The hiking trail between the parking lot and the beach is about 20-30 walk through the rain forest each way. The whole trail is made of board walk and stairs. The hike is very relaxing and relatively easy. It gives us a glimpse of the rain forest with ferns, tress and different exoctic plants.

At the end of the trail, it opens to the beach where the cove located. At low tide, you can walk to the headland. There are a lot of starfish, and other living organisms in the tidal pools during low tide.

We spent almost an hour on the beach just relaxing.

During low tide, one can walk from Schooner Cove to Long beach.

A couple of weeks ago we travelled to this beautiful area of B.C. So glad that we listened to those who said that this walk was a must. The walk to the cove was lovely. Not a difficult walk at all and so worth the time. (Although for anyone who has difficulty with stairs, this is not for you..) The walk took us through lovely rainforest with ferns and massive trees. The best part though was that we went during low tide. We love to beachcomb and were in heaven here! There were so many colourful starfish on the rocks! What a sight!!! Would love to return some day.

We have been here twice this summer - couldn't get enough. Its a boardwalk through the rainforest - about 1 km long with quite a lot of stairs (so not suitable for old dogs). It will take you about 30 minutes each way through an Avatar like grove and when you emerge onto the beach you will stand in awe for a few minutes - rain or shine, guaranteed! Then you have the choice to walk in either direction along the coast.

There is a parking lot with a ticket machine - maybe $7 - and then a short walk to the trail head.

First you have a short but intensive hike through an old forrest. But once you are on the beach you will stay a long time.

after a short walk of 30 min. through rainforest we reached the mystic beach. It was like in a Hitchcock movie...
