“The place to stay when visiting Tofino.”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

Christina looks after this delightful three location accommodation.
It is three homes converted to sleeping and eating very comfortable, very clean, and very quiet west coast locations just outside Tofino.
We were there July 5th and 6th and it was 27° and sunny.
christina was very courteous, communicative and helpful.
If you are visiting Tofino, you would enjoy resting there overnight.

We've been to Tofino multiple times and our experience here is by far the best. We were in the Sandpiper Suite which just look absolutely amazing. There were 6 of us and there was plenty of room. The kitchen is big and the living room and dinning rooms are also very spacious! The bedrooms were also very roomy. The place we stayed at looked very new and there were tall glass windows to let natural light in. My only complain is the BBQ grill outside, it seemed to malfunction on us but it was nice for the owner to provide an amenity to cook food in. I recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Tofino for it is walking distance to the beach and a very beautiful suite to stay in!

Room Tip: "Choose the Sandpiper Suite because it's upstairs and it's their biggest one!"

The Guesthouse is located in a quiet side street in Tofino, approx. 5 min by car to “downtown” (which is a big exaggerated with regard to Tofino).

After booking we received a lot of information and directions via e-mail which was appreciated. It was the only private accommodation that we booked where advance payment was required.

We stayed in the “Sunset Cedars Suite” and had high expectations due to the nice pictures on the homepage and the good reviews at Trip Advisor.
We were sadly disappointed. The whole furniture and equipment was in suboptimal condition (rust on the chairs on the balcony, worn surfaces of the kitchenette…). The suite had the air of a pieced together room. The “fully equipped” kitchenette was tiny and not well equipped at all. There was pepper, pepper and pepper to bring taste to our cooking, no herbs and not even salt. The cooking facilities turned out to be 2 portable hotplates. We had much better self-catering suites in Canada!
Cleanliness was acceptable.

We know that Tofino is expensive during the summer months. Nevertheless, 150 CAN+taxes was in our eyes ridiculous for this service. To us, it felt like a tourist trap.

I have to admit I am not sure how Cobble Wood is described as a bird sanctuary. It seemed to be located in kind of a small residential area, and my partner and I certainly didn't see any birds. Though it could have been because it was February... anyways, the second we walked into our room at the guesthouse we felt so welcome. It was warm and cozy and a human sanctuary from the cold and rain outside. It was neat and tidy, until upon closer inspection we realized our towels were a little bit mangey and stained. We also noticed that the complimentary tea, coffee, and jams had probably been sitting there for years - they were definitely beyond the point of edibility. As far as the room was concerned, those were our only complaints - everything else was lovely!

The manager was also very nice - when we could find her. We had to try a few times to get a hold of her to pay our bill, but when we did run into her she was very pleasant, and I also appreciated how trusting and honest she was, which I guess is more or less the B.C. way.

The location is good, but you definitely need a car to get to Tofino, unless you like really long walks. It's close to some beaches, which is nice. Frankly I liked that it was a bit outside of the Tofino area - I'm sure that during the busy summer it is nice to get away from the activity for a while, but I know that it not for everyone.

The manager is very responsive to inquiries. We were impressed with her quick replies.
The location is a lot further from town than we thought. We didn't have a car and don't recommend walking to Tofino town and back. But it is close to Mackenzie Beach and Chesterman Beach, and within walking distance to the Pointe Restaurant at Wickaninnish Lodge for a luxury meal (go for lunch rather than dinner). Full kitchen is sensibly stocked with cooking items. The Botanical Garden nearby is nice. One admission lets you come back over several days and there is a mini shopping area minutes away with a good take-out and tiny grocery store.

My daughter and I stayed for three days at Cobblewood in April 2012. We enjoyed how close it was to the beautiful beaches of the west coast of Vancouver Island. You can walk to one of the nicest in 15 min.!
One of the best things about our room was the fact that it had the ability to cook and microwave and refrigerate... Thereby saving us quite a bit of money.
This is an almost new accommodation that made things even more comfortable!

Our family stayed here over the Easter weekend...enjoyed it enough to extend our stay for an extra night. Our upstairs unit was clean and spacious with a well equipped kichen for basic meal preparation...we even used the BBQ. Definitely would return for another visit!
