This hotel is in a great location in downtown VC. It is close enough to walk to many attractions, and the sight-seeing buses will stop across the street. It is a block away from a drug store if you have forgotten something, and it is across the street from Pacific Centre, a huge underground shopping mall. The hotel itself is outstanding. We were celebrating our anniversary, and a complimentary bottle of champagne was iced down in our room when we arrived. The room had a Nespresso maker, which was appreciated, although I would have preferred a Kuerig with regular coffee. A tea service was also provided. A large variety of snacks and drinks are in the room for an additional cost; prices are posted. Each day, turn-down provided a plate of delicious butter cookies and bottles of water. For a complimentary shoe shine, you could leave your shoes hanging on the outside of your door (in the provided bag) and they are returned by 6 a.m. the following morning. The room itself could not have been any better--we booked a Superior Room, king bed. There was a ton of space: the huge bathroom had two sinks at opposite ends of the room, with a large walk-in rain shower plus a separate soaking tub as well as a separate toilet room. There was a sofa and a desk; internet was complimentary. The windows opened slightly for some fresh air. The bed was extremely comfortable--I meant to check out the mattress brand before we left, but I forgot!! The linens and bath amenities were high end. Even though in the middle of a large city, with the elevators located just inside the hotel entrance, it felt very secure between the hotel staff recognizing us by name and the requirement to scan your room key inside the elevator prior to accessing a floor. Here are the cons: We were in room #1005 (10th floor) and each evening the hallway smelled strongly of the restaurant below. The odor never appeared in our room, so there must be a problem with the ventilation in the hallway. Also, local phone calls will cost you $2.00, parking will cost you $42 per day, and there is no access to ice (you have to call to request it). However, the turn-down service left ice each evening. We found parking available a block away and on the week-ends, you can save money by choosing this option, but during the week, you will not realize any savings. Bottom line, if you want to be pampered, and don't mind paying for it, this is the place to stay. One final note, be prepared to pay about 17% on top of your room rate to cover the taxes.

My husband and I stayed here in January and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was incredibly comfortable and beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen a better hotel bathroom. The concierge was extremely helpful and friendly and gave us great recommendations for lunch and dinner. We had brunch at the hotel restaurant before we left, and it was amazing. Would definitely stay here again!

This stop was the last on our 5 week trip to the US and Canada and what a wonderful surprise it was. A beautiful older style hotel surrounded by tall modern buildings in a perfect location - near shops and restaurants.. The Concierge was very helpful and made table reservations for us and, on one occasion, organised the complimentary hotel car to take us to one restaurant that was a bit to far to walk. The bedroom we were booked into was a "deluxe" and was fabulous. A large comfortable bed with superb bedding and a sitting area with sofa and chairs. The bathroom was a very large "his and hers" with underfloor heating and the temperature controls were excellent. The room was extremely comfortable and there was no noise from the busy street. The cocktail bar in the lobby was a wonderful place to relax with a glass of wine after a long day seeing the sights of Vancouver.

All in all this hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. Apart from the beautiful surroundings, the staff were all first class.

What a beautiful centrally located hotel. Great amenities. The staff is extremely nice and the rooms are plush. They were very helpful with making arrangements for day trips and handing out discounts. There is a "happening" bar upstairs and one on street level. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and felt like home. City view from our window. So glad we stayed here.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the museum could hear a little noise from the park, but it is very minimal and stops ea...

From the moment of our arrival till the moment they closed the cab door upon our departure the staff could not have been any more attentive, and the facility any more comfortable but still be elegant. . Matthew at the Concierge desk was so wonderful and helpful. His recommendations were great. He worked a miracle with a airline issue we had. For 4 years we researched going to Vancouver for a special vacation, and they made it memorable. Thanks Y'all

My parents celebrated their wedding at this hotel in 1955, and I can confirm that the hotel has been tastefully updated since then (and the rooms now have colour TV (lol). In fact, this has become my preferred hotel for future stays in Vancouver. The hotel has been recently renovated and has excellent ammenities. Some of the highlights are the beautiful patio courtyard on the 4th floor - this is a great venue for a cocktail especially on a nice sunny summer day (when that actually occurs in Vancouver), an excellent spa and fitness facility with TechnoGym equipment, and terrific restaurants - Hawksworth and the Bel Cafe. Excellent food, excellent coffee. Even if you're not staying here, you should stop in for sure - you will not be disappointed! The rooms are tastefully decorated and have all of the creature comforts right down to umbrellas, flashlights, shoe horns etc. The closet was somewhat small, and the room while not the largest room I've seen was comfortable. The bed was amazing, and sleep quality was fantastic. The washrooms are quite massive however. My bathroom featured a full soaker tub, rain shower, two separate vanities, and a separate water closet. The rooms include convenient control switches to control all of the lighting from the bedside which is also a fantastic feature. My room did overlook the courtyard, and it was a bit noisy on a Friday night, but they close it down before 11 pm, so it was not too bad. My only complaint is that the complimentary internet service was a bit slow, but adequate for basic e-mailing etc. Don't plan on downloading large files unless you're willing to pay $16.95/day for "premium" access. The check-out process was way too slow. There was only one person on duty at the front desk at the time, and she was helping another couple that obviously had something taking a long time to resolve. Ultimately I couldn't wait, and left my keys at the desk. Nonetheless, the hotel had e-mailed me a receipt within an hour and it was effectively efficient.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking courtyard can be a bit noisy before 11 pm on a nice night. Since patio season in...

First you have to give them credit, this is a nice property, clean and in a great location for sightseeing, however, the staff needs help. Calls to the front desk were put on hold for eternity with no apologies and as if you are bothering them. An attempt to get waited on in the bar restaurant was futile, even after waiting for a long time, other patrons were immediately waited on as soon as they walked in (perhaps it would help if they had diversity training, just my opinion), we left after it became obvious that we were being ignored. Requests to speak to the manager to relay concerns were met by a less than accommodating front desk staff. Rooms are clean but relatively small for the money, in my opinion not a very good value.

Bottom line, loved the location, really nice property but not the service or the staff--training may help.
