My wife and I stayed at the L'Hermitage from 9 July to 17 July 2012 during our 8-day honeymoon in Vancouver. Upon arriving to the hotel at 1 a.m. due to a flight delay, we were greeted by Andrew (I believe, I'm not good with names) at the front desk. He checked us in very quickly, provided a map of the area, informed us about the area, and bid us good night as we went to room 714.

Our room is known as the one bedroom signature suite. The room has a full kitchen with modern appliances directly on the left upon entering. Not only did the kitchen have appliances, it also contained silverware, dishes, pots, pans, toaster, blender, and drinking glasses. Looking ahead revealed a cozy living area with a sliding door leading to the patio. The bedroom is spacious despite a king bed. Not only was the size of the bed appealing, it was also very comfortable. Much more so than any other hotel bed I have slept on. A very valuable peace-of-mind is the cleanliness of the room. It is clean! Every surface I checked was free of dust or other unclean substances. Whether it was the top shelf of the cupboards, the corners of the three closets, or the typically risky tiled bathroom shower, it was all clean!

We visited the salt-water pool a few nights and found it to be extremely clean and tidy as well. I typically avoid hotel pools for reasons of either too many people, murky-looking water, or the presence of standing water/mold in the area. L'Hermitage's pool area was free of all of those attributes. The hot tub was a very welcome sight after our day-hikes in Stanley Park.

Services during our stay was impeccable as well. At no point were we able to sneak out of the hotel with a friendly "good morning," "hello," or " have a good day!" The conceirge proved extremely valuable during out stay, providing us with the correct bus routes, suggestings on dining, coupons for almost everything, and tips to squeeze the best value out of all the things we did. The wifi service was complimentary and worked quite well on our phones (Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Droid 2). The wifi range is a bit limited on the patio, but that was not a concern for us. L'Hermitage is most certainly top notch when it comes to service and making you feel valued.

Note that there is construction of a TELUS Garden homes and offices highrise across the street. It resulted in a direct view of construction equipment and a parking structure in the course of its demolition. Of course, this is not the fault of L'Hermitage and the city-mandated hours of construction limits noise to between 8 a.m. and approximately 6 p.m. I actually found it quite entertaining, seeing the rig-mounted jackhammers pounding away at the concrete parking structure. I'm sure that by the time of this review, the demolition of the parking structure of complete and they would be on to preparing the foundation for the highrise.

Unfortunately, the breakfast buffet did not live up to my expectations given the cost. Although the food was organic, the selection seemed minimal compared to other hotels. My "scrambled eggs" seems like they were almost pure yolk (not my thing) and the belgian waffles had to be put in a toaster prior to consumption. At first sight, it seems like a typical catering affair. My wife agrees that the breakfast is nothing special. However, the service during the breakfast was excellent.

If you plan to visit Vancouver, I recommend L'Hermitage as the place to stay. The location is very convenient for walking to the themed areas of downtown (Gastown, Yaletown, Heritage District, Stanley Park, and the Ferry to Granville). When (not if) we travel to Vancouver again, we will be sure to stay at this hotel. The staff at L'Hermitage seem almost like friends now!

Room Tip: 5th floor has access to pool, excerise room, and business center.

We took a cruise to Alaska out of Vancouver, but chose to fly to Seattle then take the train to Vancouver. So we stayed for the second time at L'Hermitage, and loved it again. It's a wonderful hotel with excellent accomodations and wonderful service. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed here during ski season for two nights before heading up to Whistler. Because there was three of us we stayed in the two bedroom suite, which was extremely spacious, had excellent views of down town Vancouver, multiple balconies, excellent service and was really good value for money compared to the alternatives offering the same standard of accommodation. The kitchen was also really well kitted out, and as I had travelled up from Texas where I had been on a business trip first it allowed me to wash and dry all my clothes myself using the in-suite laundry facilities before travelling on to Whistler.

This hotel is in a great location and it exceeded my expectations! The staff is all extremely helpful and friendly. I had indicated on our reservation that it was our anniversary, and we were upgraded to a suite with a large patio. The manager also delivered wine to our room the second night along with a thoughtful card. The room and bathroom were both very high end. We visited the restaurant for drinks and appetizers the first night, and hotel guests get 15% off the bill there. The hot breakfast buffet in the library was delicious! We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but they looked nice. The concierge was very helpful in booking us a trolley tour for sightseeing. I would definitely stay here again if we go back to Vancouver. We travel frequently, and this stands out as one of the best hotels we've experienced!

We had a wonderful stay at the L'Hermitage in Vancouver. The location was very convenient (on Richards and Robson) and made walking to Denman/Stanley Park, Yaletown, and the pedestrian ferry to Granville very convenient. Also Chinatown is close-by (as is gas town) but be careful which streets you walk on. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were equally wonderful. Everyone was cheerful and kind (as is the city of Vancouver). The breakfast is great. The concierges (Raymond and David) were incredibly helpful and steered us to fantastic "foodie" restaurants. A 5 star experience.

From the outset of check in ( received complementary upgrade to Signature Den) our stay at L'Hermitage exceeded all expectations. We stayed a week in Late June and this was the best hotel from a service and staff perspective, of our 8 week holiday.

The rooms were exceptionally well appointed (the signature den) had 2 bathrooms, great King size bed, a separate sitting room, balcony, fully serviced kitchen, and a washing machine and drier. The Gym was good, and the outdoor pool and Jacuzzi were good as well.

The Restaurant attached to the Hotel had great food (we ate there 3 nights) and the and the service was excellent as well. We had the buffet breakfast on the last morning which whilst not having loads of choices, what they did have was lovely and fresh, and very tasty - good value for money.

The Concierge team were really helpful with some great recommendations. They also have free bikes for use at the hotel - we were going to hire bikes and were told the hotel had bikes we could use for free - Stanley Park is a great ride from the Hotel.

We just loved all aspects of this Hotel which offers the best value for money stay for what you get.. , so much so, that we will be back next year to use it as our base to further explore Canada. Thanks to the L'Hermitage team for a fantastic stay - your staff are a real credit to you. - we will highly recommend you to any that travel your way !

We stayed in L'Hermitage for 6 nights in July. Everything was perfect and all staff was very helpful, especially the breakfast/bar staff were very friendly and always stand-by to offer more fresh juice or latte's. We had a solarium room which was large, always clean and included a fully equipped kitchen, washing facilities and nice bathroom. If we ever get back to Vancouver we will definitely stay here again!
