This is our second visit to L'Hermitage Hotel. We did it a year ago prior to our skiing trip to Whsitler and we were very impressed by their courteous and knowledgeable staff. So this year's choice was a no-brainer. We booked the hotel, this time after coming from our Whsitler adventure. We got the same impression as last year. Rooms are spacious, decoration is impeccable, cleanliness is their standard, fitness room, steam room, and pools are conveniently located in the 5th floor. I love this place. The location is very attractive, since it is walking distance from major shopping venues, and restaurants, yet it is not in the middle of all that buzz!

Next year, we will do it again! Feels like home!

Splurged on a "petite" room for a weekend in Vancouver. Everything was great - friendly staff was there to greet us and we left the car with the valet on the curb. Room was very comfortable. Hot tub and pool, while outdoor, were well heated and very nice. Only complaint was a somewhat noisy HVAC system in room 551.

Conveniently located to great dining.

Room Tip: All amenities (pool, hot tub, steam room, etc.) are on 5th floor, so having a room on that floor is...

We were impressed by the excellent service from the moment we arrived. We live close to Vancouver so we know the hotels quite well and this was an outstanding choice. The room was very comfortable, with a gas fireplace, and the breakfast kept me going all day.
It will be our first choice for future stays in Vancouver

Well, what more can I say about this gem in the heart of Vancouver.
Our suite came fully equipped with state of the art Bosh appliances, awesome cookware and utensils. The hot tub, pool and steam room are so nice and the staff was simply wonderful!
This little hotel deserves another star as it's much better than many 5 star hotels we've stayed in the past. Highly, highly recommended!

I should have been staying at this hotel for years, but didn't discover it until recently. The service is the best in Vancouver, and the 5th floor lounge is a relaxing respite with comfortable chairs and a beautiful fireplace. This hotel provides a service level I have not seen in years in Canada.

Room Tip: There is currently (Jan 2013) construction across the street. Ask for a a room over the pool.

It's always great to have an uneventful stay, but I always think the real test of service levels is how staff deal with a problem. We did have a problem. We were checked into a King room on the 6th (I think) floor, and it was beautiful. The staff had informed us earlier of the construction and its noise just across the road, and we were right opposite this, no matter, the soundproofing seemed very good. We spent one sleepless night in the room with a faulty air conditioner making an absolute racket, and the noise from outside prevented us from just leaving the windows open (The Lions had won their game that night and there was much celebrating going on!) As we went out the next morning, I spoke to the person at the front desk. Whilst out, we had a call to say they thought they had fixed the problem, but could we please check when we got back and let them know. Unfortunately on our return, the unit was still making a very loud noise. I called down to reception and we were offered a suite on the other side of the hotel. The downside was that it was only a Queen bed. We took it, and it was an amazing room! Full kitchen and laundry, with heaps of extra space and an amazing view of BC Place.
I cannot praise the staff enough for their solution to the problem, and hopefully the original problem was attended to before the next guests arrived.
Everything about this hotel was top notch, and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

I have stayed at 4 of the 5 top-rated hotels in Vancouver (from tripadvisor) in the last year. The L'Hermitage is rated number one for many reasons.
I booked a one bedroom suite with a fold-out couch in the living room and I was upgraded to a one bedroom suit with a full kitchen. The suite was very nicely decorated and the furniture was in very good condition. We had a fireplace and a washer/dryer. Our suite was on the 7th floor and had a nice view over the outdoor heated pool and hot tub area. It had a balcony with two chairs and a bistro table on it. The kitchen was beautiful and functional. I didn't have time to cook on this trip but I checked all the cupboards and it was very well equipped compared to most hotel suites with kitchens in them. It definitely had everything I needed to cook meals in my room.
I booked the special which included valet parking and breakfast. Parking at downtown hotels in Vancouver averages $30/night so the free included parking was a great bonus as we had a rental car with us. The breakfast was served in a nice breakfast room with servers bringing coffee (and lattes etc) and juice to the table. The breakfast was a buffet that included waffles, pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fruit, breads and pastries.
The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The valet brought our car quickly each time we requested it.
I am planning a longer stay in Vancouver this summer and I will be booking this hotel. I am looking forward to using the pool and outdoor lounging area, the balcony seating area, the hotel gym and the well equipped kitchen.
This hotel is the best of all because it has everything in one place. The other hotels in the top 5 that I have stayed in each had some of the amenities that I like to have but only the L'Hermitage has them all and at a great price too. Only the Times Square and L'Hermitage have full kitchens and washer/dryers. Times Square and Loden don't have a pool. The Fairmont Pacific Rim and the Loden don't give you a full living area with a separate bedroom at affordable suite prices.
So if you are looking for a boutique hotel with lots of amenities, a great location, friendly staff and reasonable rates then look no further.

Room Tip: The suite we stayed in with the pool view was fabulous.
