We recently spent 2 nights at L'Hermitage Hotel and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is in a great location, who doesnt love Yaletown! The staff was so friendly and made our stay very special. The doorman even gave me a towel and a bottle of water after my SeaWall jog.Valet parking was a dream. The rooms are spacious and the beds are so comfortable you could sleep all day. The pool is wonderful to relax by and have some downtime. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask about construction. We had a suite, but barely used the balcony due to construction from across the street.

We chose L'Hermitage for our three-day, post-cruise stay based on its #1 rating on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. The building is a combination of apartments and hotel, with just three floors devoted to the hotel. By my estimate, that makes it fewer than 60 rooms/suites in the hotel part. Quite the boutique hotel.

The location is downtown, walking distance to many of the major attractions including Gasville, Granville Island, the art museum and more. The free shuttle to the Capilano suspension bridge is around the corner.

The excellent location also extends to neighborhood amenities. There's an excellent local coffee shop next door (with a Starbucks within a block for those who must have one). More importantly, there's a supermarket at the corner which is wonderful given the nature of the accommodations.

We had a one-bedroom suite which was spacious and extremely well-equipped. The kitchen had full-size, near top-of-the-line appliances including a gas cooktop, dishwasher, deep sink, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker--just about everything you would need to host a dinner for friends. We really appreciated the washer/dryer. Over the three days we washed most of the dirty laundry from our cruise so that when we get home that will be one thing we won't have to face.

As you may have read in other reviews, the staff is excellent and unfailingly helpful. Raymond, the concierge, is clearly the star. Knowledgable, helpful and a real hoot.

We never tried the breakfast buffet but from what we could see it was quite expansive and probably worth the $19.50. We either slept too late to get there or ate elsewhere.

Any complaints? Just a few. First, guests are encouraged to re-use towels rather than receive fresh ones every day. We agree with this policy--heck, we don't get fresh towels daily at home. But, if you're going to ask your guests to re-use towels, please provide them with sufficient places to hang them to dry. There was only one towel rod. 1.5 if you include the shower door handle. There wasn't even that retractable clothes line in the bathtub. So, I ended up putting them in the dryer, which may have used more energy than just getting fresh towels. This all certainly confused the maid, who when she found we were short of towels (not having checked the dryer) gave us more, even though we had not left any in the bathtub which is where we were supposed to place towels we wanted replaced. Did she think we had stolen or eaten them? Also, the maid took it upon herself to run the dishwasher even though there were fewer than six dishes. We planned to run it on our last day so as not to waste water or energy.

I would have also liked a light in the shower stall. The stall was solid walls on three sides with just a glass door, so the lighting was indirect. My wife wanted more hooks in the bathroom, too. And, there was this motion-activated light switch for the wall-length, no door closet. A nice idea, except when you're trying to quietly get your robe out of the closet in the middle of the night. A switch on the outside would have sufficed. And, finally, the room safe is located about 1 foot off the ground. Fine if you're a leprechaun, not so good if you're all full-size human.

Nothing I've said here would stop me from still giving L'Hermitage 5 stars nor recommending it to friends. We will certainly stay here again when we return to Vancouver.

We happen to prefer smaller boutique hotels when we travel and L'Hermitage is perhaps one of the finest hotels we have ever visited. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Everyone was very, very friendly and very helpful with even the slightest problem. The concierge (Raymond) is 50 levels ABOVE exceptional. He can get you into any restaurant on a moment's notice even if other services such as Open Table say that there are no tables available for hours. The rooms are well appointed and the wireless Internet is so strong that we were able to stream TV programs (using Slingbox) from our homes in the Eastern US. You can't go wrong at this place. It is conveniently located to grocery stores, retail stores, entertainment and dining. It is the perfect place to stay in Vancouver.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed great. We were on the 5th Floor which is the floor that the gym, pool and "club" room are located so my recommendation would be to ask for that floor since everything is right next to you.

We were here on honeymoon and the service couldn't have been better. We ended up in a luxurious suite akin to a small apartment, the staff were friendly and always helpful. The gym was spacious, didn't try the pool. Very central for everything around town.

Due to procrastination, reviewing this wonderful hotel now--but had to add my review. Actual trip was May 2012.

Visited hotel in May 2012 and it was the best hotel stay in Canada...probably one of my top in recent hotel stays!

L'Hermitage Hotel was the perfect choice for annual girls' getaway and yes, we were treated like queens. From Mitchell, the doorman, who was so pleasant to Jean Michele who assisted us with check in. He was very, very personable! He walked us to the restaurant attached to hotel and the meal experience was incredible. We came back to the hotel and when the doors to the 2 bedroom suite opened, all I could say was...Can I stay forever??? (smile).

Raymond Wong, the Concierge was a BIG HELP! Raymond assisted us prior to our arrival with restaurant reservations and sightseeing.

Every staff member we came in contact did not feel like staff, but friends! A BIG THANKS to every staff member at L'Hermitage for one of our greatest trips! Everyone where we stopped to shop and dined were so pleasant. We especially loved the store HOLT RENFREW! A great shopping experience! We plan on coming back!

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom suite was awesome, as it had a patio!
