“Fabulous find, We will Stay Again!! Great service/amenities/ambience!”
Reviewed 8 November 2010

We wanted to stay downtown because we were going to Hockey Game. Normally stay at the Wedgewood but we thought we would give L'Hermitage a try!! Glad we did. We had booked a Boutique suite and got upgraded to a Signature suite!! Sub zero fridge fully stocked kitchen with granite counters and bar stools. Had friends over for drinks and appetizers before the game and after, our little humble abode away from home!. Had a fabulous breakfast in L'Orangerie. We will come down for 2 nights next time!! Loved the dog concierge "Hippo" he loves to sleep on the desk as likes being same level as humans not on the floor!!

Nice hotel in heart of city....clean, comfortable...rooms good but not great...neighborhood O.K....friendly, helpful staff...buffet breakfast available for additional charge (we paid $15 each): eggs, waffles, sausage, etc....computer available...overall nice place, decent value for price, but not particularly great.

This review is hard to write. To compare this hotel to any other I’ve stayed at would be unfair. You need to understand, this hotel is far and away something very special and unique. For starters, this is actually a condominium property with a segment of the building dedicated for this hotel. Staff is very friendly and more than happy to assist with any question you might have. An example, when I checked in my room wasn’t ready so I was shown to a cool lounge area upstairs (half of which doubles as their restaurant). The one bedroom suite is just that, a huge one bedroom condo with high end touches throughout. The deep soaking tub was a real bonus. As for price, I’m blown away it’s not much more. I’d expect this to go for $400-500/night, it’s really that good.

As for location, it’s hard to find something better than this. You’re a few blocks away from the main downtown area and still a few blocks away from the waterfront and Yaletown. The subway system (called the Skytrain) is only two blocks away and I’d highly recommend it coming from/to the airport (same speed as a taxi and way cheaper). Side recommendation, if you like sushi, walk 10 blocks south to Kaide Sushi and be blown away.

Other reviews were correct that there is no dedicated restaurant for room service but they are beginning construction on a new restaurant. My only wish (mind you this is a stretch) is they had a higher quality shower curtain and rod. The rest of the room was so high end that the rod and curtain looked so cheap in comparison. Overall, this is one property that must be at the top of your list if you ever visit Vancouver.

We (3 adults) chose this hotel mainly because of the location (quiet yet convenient) and the large room. We stayed in a one bedroom signature den which came with a separate bedroom with master bathroom, a little "den" or study room, a living room with sofa bed, and second bathroom, kitchen and a balcony. The room lived up to its photo and description on the hotel website. There was also a washer and dryer (with soap powder included) which was great! It was all we expected and more - clean & staff were polite and efficient. Of course, there was also the star "employee" Hippo, the Canine Concierge :) It was too bad that were were only there for 2 nights - we would definitely stay there again!

We had a nice stay here on our honeymoon - including complimentary wine as a gift on arrival for the occasion. The one bedroom suite was large and clean. The kitchen and IGA supermarket below made it easy to buy supplies and have breakfast in bed. The hotel were kind enough to accommodate our late check-out due to a late flight home.

The only thing that let us down was the "fireplace" - which was an electric illusion that did not emit much heat (though they had good climate control).

Overall a good place to stay, with a very cute canine concierge!

We have stayed at L'Hermitage three times in the last year or so. It is a small hotel on about 4 floors of a building with residences on other floors. So the service is personal, which you don't get with large commercial hotels. It is walking distance to the Skytrain station, many great restaurants, and the hockey arena.

I have two kids, so we need two bedrooms. This hotel has two bedroom suites that have full kitchens and there is a pull out bed in the living room. Very nice furniture, quality bedding, and quiet. Last time we went we asked for a cheese plate, which was really wonderful. With taxes, a two bedroom suite runs about $380 a night.

My husband and I spent 7 wonderful days at L'Hermitage. The staff was warm, friendly and very helpful. We absolutely loved Hippo, the Canine Concierge and were very impressed with the cleanliness and beautiful decor. We also liked the lap pool which we didn't get to use but will definitely do next time! Our suite was very comfortable, great bed, spacious bathroom with a tub, shower and private WC. We had complimentary Nespresso coffee and tea every day.
The Orangerie offers fresh breakfast every morning, we enjoyed the fresh berries, juices, and wonderful croissants. There's also a nice lounge where you can sit and have coffee or tea and read.
The hotel is located right on the corner of Richard's and Robson Street, downtown Vancouver, so we were right by the shops and restaurants. There's also a Market Place store right under the hotel. We will definitely go back !!!
