“Hotel in office block”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2014

The hotel is in an office block which isn't uncommon, however the hotels on lower level below the office with the NLT view being the offices around is rather unusual. For such a great cit location that's a big let down. Hotel itself just the usual Shangri La.

I was expecting a good hotel but this hotel went far beyond my expectations. The interior design warm, modern and welcoming, and subtly packed with features. Everything I could think of and more was in the room. The bed was excellent, the robes wonderful, the internet free and fast, the mini bar full. The rooms had various pre-progamed lighting states which lit the space wonderfully and atmospherically. I also loved the electronic curtains and scrims.

I paid £25 extra (only!) for an upgrade to a mini suite and I was not disappointed.

The staff were all superbly helpful and very friendly.

I would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor and if offered an upgrade take it!

We got two rooms which were adjacent to each other because we were a family of 4. But, this corner was pretty special bec, these two rooms had it's own "entrance". The views in both rooms were great. We actually had a hard time deciding which was better. Service, as expected, was stellar. Reception was warm and efficient. Concierge got us a table at a fully booked restaurant and surprised us with a complimentary appetizer! We also got sweet treats, a chocolate roll for each room. Nice personal touch. Location for shopping and restaurants is hard to beat- around the corner from Robson... We had such a wonderful time, we intend to stay there again- even if we are residents of Vancouver... My only suggestion to management is to have some options for pillows in terms of firmness. Though comfy, they are quite soft. And for some people who have neck issues (like me), it
may be a concern.

the hotel in general was top notch! Staff was very professional and gave me excellent customer service. My room was a bit small and faced the office buildings on top floor ( no choice on that) but the bed and bathroom was everything I wanted for my stay. They use L'occitane toiletries, yummy! Also, the in-room dining service was amazing. My first experience getting really good dining food served to you in your hotel. This hotel was right above a grocery store, almost like Whole foods, so for light snacks or drinks you can get it with ease.

First night, I Tried to book and appointment with the CHI spa but no one picked up when I called??? And it was in the mid afternoon...

Overall, a great stay with great service.

We booked the Shangri La because we had a New Year's Eve event to attend there. Booked a 1 bedroom suite - everything was immaculate and filled with every amenity you could possibly need during your stay. The staff were amazing and bent over backwards to make us comfortable. We ended up having to bring our 3 month old baby with us since or child care plans fell through and they had a crib set up, provided a kettle, and emptied the mini bar fridge for us to store her milk. They also recommended a sitting service that was licensed, bonded and had CPR and first aid training.
We ordered room service for dinner and the food was fantastic (smaller portions though so order an appetizer as well if you're hungry). Definitely the perfect place to stay for a special occasion!

If ur looking for luxury and all the added amenities, this is the resort for you. Impeccable service in all aspects. Beware of incidental chgs, as they will get you for 250/night additional which they forget to mention. It's worth the charge... They kindly refund what you don't use.

Room Tip: Awesome if ur a smoker. They have private balconies. In shopping district. Stanley park, coal harbou...
