Description: We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly to sushi enhances the natural flavours and textures of the fish, creating a new and exciting culinary experience. Miku owner Seigo Nakamura innovated the Aburi concept by crafting specialty sauces using non-traditional Japanese ingredients to pair with each type of fish. The light sear from the binchotan (Japanese bamboo charcoal) caramelizes the sauce, releasing a smoky aroma and bringing out the finest flavours in each piece of Aburi sushi. Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Fly Over Canada, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus.

“THE BEST FOOD, THE BEST CHEFS.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

After living in Japan for few years and dining in Japanese restaurants around the world, I can say that MIKU has really what it takes to be called the BEST place to dine here in Vancouver and it ALL comes from behind the counter...
My wife and I were astonished and very pleased with the quality of Sushi AND the service we received from the EX. Chef. Hayashi-san himself and the attentiveness and friendliness of the Sous-Chef. Hirakawa-san and the rest of the kitchen staff regardless of how SUPER busy they were... constantly smiling, delivering our food and taking our orders when "our server" disappears, always recognizing my little son and even playing with him...
I just hope that servers at Miku can learn from these amazing people what customer service should be like... I sincerely appreciate the responsiveness of the Sushi bar staff and the way they work and deliver great food and a true customer service.

Thank You Kazuhiro. Thank you Tatsuya for a true omotenashi. ^ ^

“Really great restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014 via mobile

Enjoyed a great dinner here on a packed Sunday night (good sign of a popular place). Ordered the pseudo-omakase offering of several courses for a fixed price and enjoyed every course.

The location and atmosphere can't be beat: views of the water, cool breezes, energetic open kitchen, and fun mix of people dining.

Hats off to Gemma, our Aussie/Italian/Canada-loving waitress. She was fun, interesting and really took care of us well.

“Nothing to Write Home About!?!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

With rave reviews, we visited Miko only to sample the most middling of sushi fare in relation to the vast array of Vancouver competitive establishments. Overall, not a single specialty dish stood out as exemplary or outstanding with most being overly heavy on the rice, while hot dishes arrived served at room temperature naturally distorting the culinary enjoyment and experience. As an exception, both the salmon and tuna sashimi were definitely top quality and delectable.

The service was categorically excellent, but not enough to dictate a return visit based on the food.

“Crazy nice view, solid sushi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014 via mobile

Seated at a table overlooking the harbor, the view alone is captivating. Service was good, the food hit the spot. Unique type of sushi, seared which seals in the juices and is seared without sauces, ginger, horseradish - it merits a definite try. Shoot for a table with a view. I think in the heart of the restaurant would have been loud and a different vibe altogether. More interesting than your average sushi place, no strange flavors, food spoke for itself and felt clean. I'm not a huge sushi fan and enjoyed it. My wife loves sushi and would go back when in Vancouver again.

“Best sushi in Vancouver!”

Don't miss this spot. Everything was excellent. Fresh fish, great presentation & excellent service. It's a really busy restaurant so be prepared to wait during peak hours. I'll be back!
