Stayed for one night in a Signature Harbour Mountain View Room as an anniversary treat. Really loved the room, its decor and stunning view.
The bathroom was gorgeous, with the most glamourous, relaxing, spacious and comfortable jetted tub I have experienced to date. The tub is situated right next to the floor to ceiling windows (be careful you don't flash the office block opposite as the glass is clear and the switch for the automatic blinds is on the opposite side of the bathroom (a little niggle) - relaxing with a stunning view of Coal Harbour and the Northshore Mountains was spectacular (also watching the sunrise the following morning).
The magpie inside of me that loves anything 'shiny', was shamelessly attracted to the coloured lights in the tub that changed colour regularly and added a little bit of extra ambience (not to everyone's tastes I am sure but I enjoyed them).
The Pacific Rim is indeed not as traditional in decor as many of the other Fairmont properties in North America. I really love its contemporary decor. The lobby is wonderful with a fabulous fire place and some stunning pieces of artwork that have been very carefully considered and curated.
Buffet breakfast was excellent quality and I would recommend it.
The only quibble I would have is the standard of service. I have stayed at quite a few Fairmont properties over the last few years and I would say that the standard of service has fallen. It can still be excellent at times but isn't consistently so. e.g. Front Desk service at Pan Pacific was good but very poor at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler. The waitress who served us in the lobby at the Pan Pacific was obviously having a bad day and it showed but the waitress who served us at breakfast was wonderful and couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our breakfast.
I note that the L'Hermitage Hotel in Vancouver won the TripAdvisor title of best hotel in Canada and looking at what people have written about this hotel, it seems clear that it is their dedication to exceptional service for all their customers that have earned them this spot. Fairmont could perhaps learn from this.
