“Always our first choice when visiting Vancouver”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

It simply does not get much better in Vancouver than the Pacific Rim.

We have had the pleasure to stay at many - if not all - of the four and five star hotels in Vancouver and while all have their strengths and weaknesses, the Fairmont Pacific Rim is the only hotel I really have a hard time finding a problem with.

Location is perfect, a five-minute walk from Canada Place(easy walk to or from your cruise ship), Robson, Seawall and the Canada Line from the airport. and fifteen from Stanley Park, Service is exceptional - we were always personally acknowledged upon arrival and exit, always made to feel special. This is a very high end hotel without any of the attitude and pretensions encountered at others in the same price range(read PP). The concierge was very helpful, whether it be for a restaurant recommendation or simple directions. When calling for assistance from the room, the phone was always answered on one ring by a friendly associate ready and eager to help.

Rooms are very well thought out, with roomy bathrooms. Ipad controlled room amenities very convenient and efficient, with probably the best and fastest WiFi we have ever experienced in a hotel. Espresso machine a nice touch, as is the full size electric tea kettle. Television in the bathroom mirror another nice touch for catching up on news during a morning shower. Lighting controls however can get a bit confusing, especially in the middle of the night. Very nice connection console built into the desk, with convenient USB ports for device charging... but while the supplied connection cords are nice, there were only Apple connectors provided - no mini-usb for us Android folks. But this is really a minor quibble with a fine hotel that really gets it right.

This is the first place we call when planning a visit to Vancouver, we don't even like to have to consider staying anywhere else. An while all this quality does come with a price, one can definitely spend more for less in the Downtown Vancouver area.

The hotel is located in a very good location near the water, however it is not the only hotel in the area. Unlike many Fairmont hotels in Canada. This Hotel welcomes you in a nice modern lobby, open concept restaurant and great staff attitude. Not sure if the price value is there despite it all. However good location and nice hotel.

I used airline miles to book rooms here (with breakfast included) for one night prior to our cruise. I corresponded with the hotel many times prior to our stay and always received quick, helpful replies from the staff. The hotel, our rooms and the service was great! Comfy bed, loved the decor and electronics. Hotel staff so friendly and helpful at all hours, BMW service a great perk. Join the President's Club for free WiFi! ORU Breakfast buffet was awesome - try the sugar buns with Chantilly cream filling! Our waiter described it as a "game changer" and he was right, hehe. Thank you Fairmont Pacific Rim for making our stay in Vancouver so wonderful (even if it was too short). We'll be back!

Hotel has a new and modern set-up built for the 2010 olympic games in Vancouver, so it means hotel is modern. Room is well equiped with Nespresso machine and capsules. Room is big and bathroom with good shower. Parking is very expansive compares to local availability and prices.

Room Tip: Tale a room with Lake view in a high floor and you will benefit the view. Deluxe Rooms are a good op...

This hotel is definitely worth the time and effort to visit. The regular rooms are great, complete with a built in TV in the bathroom mirror. They staff was superb from the minute I stepped out of the taxi upon arrival until my departure. I really enjoyed Giovane's cafe and wine bar, all my meals there were very tasty and reasonably priced. I booked this hotel as a vacation package airlines and hotel, that is the way to travel. Otherwise the Pan Pacific would be very pricey. My only ire was that the clerk at check in was pushy for me to upgrade to a Gold Room. I would stay here again if I were in Vancouver!

Room Tip: You don't have to upgrade to get a good room, all the rooms are very nice.

We were staying at this hotel before embarking on a cruise. The hotel is great. We were upgraded to Fairmont Gold which allows you access to a private lounge and various food and beverage offerings. BUT, how difficult is it for a so called luxury hotel to get the little things right? The shower was appalling. One of those big rose showers where you have to run around to get wet! Water was either hot or cold never where you actually wanted it to be. Hair dryers, my pet hate. Why is it you pay all this money for a beautiful comfortable luxury hotel and you get a hair dryer that is so useless it really is not worth having!
We stayed for 3 nights in total and only once had an evening turndown and that was only because we requested it.
Overall good, but with disappointing aspects.

Wicked hotel! Staff great! Service great! Rooms are very modern! The room we stayed in had TV's built in the mirrors! Amazing advanced technology! Will go again for sure! Downside to Fairmont Chains that they can be very expensive and for some people very hard to afford! Thanks!
